The Maricopa City Council appointed Henry Wade on Tuesday to fill a vacancy created on the Planning and Zoning Commission by the recent departure of Chairwoman Marquisha Griffin.

Mayors from the cities of Maricopa, Casa Grande and Eloy along with the Pinal County Board of Supervisors gathered in front of the old Florence court building Wednesday to announce a landmark agreement between the cities, county and Union Pacific railroad.

A stack of blankets almost brought a grown man to tears at the City Council meeting on Tuesday when the Sisterhood of Traveling Quilts presented Public Safety Director Patrick Melvin with 60 quilts.
