“It’s your city. I represent you, and I want to hear from you.” - Kelly Haddad
Dear Fellow Maricopans,
Thank you for visiting my Web page and becoming a more informed voter. I appreciate your involvement in and concern for our city, as an active and engaged community is a critical ingredient to Maricopa’s positive growth and success.
I have listed below details about me personally and my political views and objectives. I welcome and encourage you to contact me if you would like to discuss any of these issues or share with me some of your own. I have listed my email address and cell phone below, and you can also read and post on a forum thread for more public dialogue (click here).
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to serve you as a member of your City Council since the city’s inception five years ago and look forward to the opportunity to continue to do so. The future of Maricopa is in your hands - please vote on May 20!
Sincerely,

On Conflicts of Interest:
I believe that I should be your first choice at the polls as I have been a very effective councilman for nearly five years. I have no vested interest in our city with the exception of my home. I have only had to declare one conflict of interest and that was nearly five years ago.
I take every issue very seriously and vote for what I believe is in the best interest of the city. I realize that I tend to be a bit on the quiet side; however, I don’t feel that it is necessary to make a political statement with every decision I make.
Primary Objective: Economic Development
Why it must be done:
A successful Economic Development program will play a part in solving nearly every problem that we are experiencing in our beloved city. It will help decrease traffic, pollution, crime, etc. and it will help increase revenue for your city and local businesses, build libraries and parks, allow us to spend more time with our families and the like. Bringing professional jobs to Maricopa will help ensure Maricopa becomes “home” to its residents, not just the place they live.
What cannot be done:
We cannot widen SR 347. First, it is a state highway over which the city has no control. Second, doing so would create huge rush-hour bottlenecks at I-10 and the city limits, thereby mitigating any benefits.
Alternate routes to the Valley would require approval from the Gila River Indian Community and that would take decades and dollars we don’t have, if it could ever be accomplished.
What can be done:
We must provide jobs locally and keep our residents in town. Fundamentally, I’m against the city purchasing land, given the current market conditions I think the city should purchase one or two small parcels of land, make them shovel-ready and be in a position to bring a major employer or even a hospital to Maricopa.
If I know one thing for certain, it is that our residents and companies looking to relocate here need improved and additional Parks, Recreation and Libraries facilities; specifically, more ball fields, skate parks, dog parks and a larger, more sophisticated library. This gives our youths an outlet, reducing much of the crime that exists in our city.
I could go on forever about the benefits of economic development; however, I think it is evident that there is room for much more improvement in this department and I intend to lead the charge in doing so.
