Alert | This is going to be the best blighted slum in Arizona. All new homes, stink, no jobs, bad traffic, bad roads. At least we have migrant workers and smelly farm animals! Go Maricopa! We have the best politicians in the world here!
Wow Denna are you on the City of Maricopa Welcome Wagon? If not I think you missed your calling.

Alert | The new city slogan:
MARICOPA - The town where cows outnumber the humans 10 to 1 and where 1% of the population are fat cat Big Cow owners, but they control the politics. The rich fat cats that they are control this town, the same as The Cowboy gang in Wyatt Earp's time. It is time to get out the fat cats and show them this is OUR Maricopa. Get out fat cats. Stop smelling up MY town with your stink and feces.
People of Maricopa, it is time we took our town back from fat cats.

Alert | I just hope that we have not lost population, as even though they still are giving out building permits at the City, we do not have a clear picture as to how many permits are refunded due to not being built. There are a lot of homes vacant, and even with people moving here, they would have to outnumber the people leaving here, and no one has come up with a figure to determine for every person that moves to Maricopa, how many move away.
The next census will be an interesting one.

Alert | Whether it is 25,000 or 40,000 currently, I have little doubt it will be at least 150,000 by 2025, as was originally projected 5 years ago. This downturn in the market, like ALL economic cycles, is not permanent. The economy will come roaring back. And Arizona, maybe especially Maricopa, will lead the way.
We just first need to figure out how to survive 4 years under Obama. If we do that, the sun will shine again!

Alert | | I don't know about your communitys but mine has only grown since we moved here and i haven't realy seen anyone leave or move. When we moved here we were told 33,000 but I know of 7 homes just on my street that have been built and filled since then (8 mts ago) so i would think this number should have gone up since then

And few of us who have been here for a few years buy it.

Alert | Actually I disagree. I can't tell you the last time I've seen a city or municipal agency build roads or anything for that matter on the premise of expected or wanted population. It doesn't work that way. Municipal agencies are purely reactionary. When the people come they will react. Simple as that. Not efficient but thats reality. This City will keep growing. Just because its hit a lag doesn't mean much. Fact of the matter is Arizona will continue to experience an influx of people due to weather and cost of living. Where else are they going to move? Phoenix Metro is nearly built out and anyone looking for affordable housing will buy house on the outskirts of town.

Alert | N75194.....hilarious post, and probably close to the truth.
Chevy Guy....if the agencies are truly reactionary, where's the reaction? We are here now, and what has been done? I think we may be in for a very long haul (10-15 years) of "talks", and endure a lot of pain before we get any relief with infrastructure and transportation. Also...Phoenix Metro is loaded with affordable housing. We need to make Maricopa a desired desination to get Phoenix working folks down here. That'll only happen with better access to their jobs, beautifying our town, (see Ocotillio-Chandler-Gilbert-Ahwatukee), and aiming a lot higher with our school system. We don't want to be known as the cheap housing alternative to Phoenix forever.

Alert | | Yesterday reinforced for me that we have grown in population considerably since 2-3 years ago. Since 347 was shut down due to an accident I observed traffic levels of about 3 years ago: there were plenty of cars on 347, it was pretty loosely spaced but not jam packed like you see today. 347 was reduced to a trickle and then stopped, reducing flow to Riggs and Casa Blanca. I don't think the lack of expansion is going to stop growth here. Maybe slow it, but not stop. Lack of expansion at the Broadway curve hasn't stopped the expansion of the Ahwatukee Foothills and surrounding communities/cities has it? No. | | Joined: Jul 2005

I'd settle for a 6 pack of toilet paper from Dollar Tree, with your face on it. | | Give me something good to die for,to make it beautiful to live.
