When I work from home or take time off of work I like to go down and have lunch with my younger kids.  I was there on Tuesday and I was extremely surprised how many crickets and roaches were roaming through the school hallways and classrooms with ease...even to the point where it clearly distracts my kindegarten kid and he thinks he needs to kill them all with his miniature size 13.  Has anyone else noticed this or mentioned it to the faculty?

Out of the two new builds we've lived in, both had tons of bugs at first. Not only has the land been torn up which interrupts their old environment, but bugs can come in with the building materials. Hopefully, once they get on a good pest control program this will die down. Another thought could be the doors to the playground being opened frequently. The crickets have been unusually heavy this year. I would ask if/when they are sprayed for bugs.

Yes, but they are food for scorpions. Scorpions go where there is food.
Sorry, don't mean to scare you. I just speak the facts.

Are you ready for some football?

I've found that scorpions are usually far more discreet in their movement and you would likely not find one in an area that has frequent traffic.  It would be cool to walk the school perimeter with a black light though...maybe find alot of glowing varmints

The crickets are everywhere. Butterfield had the exterminator out today. I have been in 4 school in 3 years here in Maricopa and the new schools have more bugs than the older schools. Mom 2 explained it quite well. I was more freaked out when shopping at Frys (when they had just opened) and the crickets were keeping up with my grocery cart.

I thought that was their mascot. It does have a ring to it.

My juior high mascot was a scorpion. It always bothered me that the scorpion picture only had 6 legs. That's just not right.

Lol. Well at least you weren't the Scottsdale Community College Artichokes. Many of my friends went there, and every time they mentioned that they had a game to go, I couldn't stop laughing. The fighting Artichokes...Who thought of that?
