Alert | I think it is a shame that with all of the REAL challenges we face from day to day, that we now need to worry about offending our neighbors because our children are practicing a sport!
I am much more concerned with the gang activity here in Maricopa. I would rather these kids participate in organized sports than to see them loitering in the streets! I have seen children skateboarding in the middle of Basha's parking lot. That causes a greater concern for me!
I moved my family out here because I was under the impression that this was a family focused community; however, I am now frustrated by the lack of responsibility & organization demonstrated by MUSD (don't get me started on that one) in addition to the complete lack of responsibility to our children. We put our kids in these organizations hoping they will streamline their energy into something positive instead of getting into trouble. I know for a fact that these sports organizations carry their own insurance, so any damages incurred should be referred to their policy.
It takes a village to raise a child; however, community isn't always what it is supposed to be. We'd all like to think we live in a place where people care about others -- where people pitch in to help when things get rough -- where it's safe to leave the doors unlocked and let the kids play around outside. This isn't always what we experience.
Instead of community, we find alienation; looking for safety, we are attacked by crime; hoping for a better life for our kids, we encounter gangs and drugs and the lies of television. People often retreat behind closed and double locked doors and try to ignore their neighbors.
It does take a village, to work with the family, to raise a child and weather the storms of life. If we want that kind of support, the place to begin is with ourselves. Community, like charity, begins at home. You start building a good neighborhood when you yourself decide that you will be a good neighbor. If you don't know anyone on your block, you can take the initiative. You can bake some bread and take it to your neighbors and introduce yourself. You can join a church and become part of that community. You can reach out to your own network of friends and start building community. This is what I’d like to see in Maricopa. This town holds great promise...and it begins with our children!

Alert | | Park on the street, use the wash for whatever. Don't cause my HOA fees to increase because you are too friggin lazy to walk more than 50 feet to the grass. | | 47.2 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot!

Alert | I honestly don't see how I was complaining, I saw a funny comment that's all.
I don't live in RED and don't really care who owns the wash but it seems to me like you are getting ripped off if the city owns it and your HOA dues are paying for the repairs...

Not quite sure where you heard this information from. We have one park without enough parking and plenty of misbehavior all around. I guess you were misinformed before you moved here. | | I previously had 1 trillion posts!

Alert | I KNOW RAY DIZZLE. THANK YOU FOR POINTING THAT OUT...... You would think more residents would care but since we're at about a 50% foreclosure rate I'm assuming many do not care. | | I previously had 1 trillion posts!

Alert | Not sure where you live "actually in RED", but yes the homeowners' fees did go up this year. All we kept on hearing was broken sprinkler heads in the wash. | | I previously had 1 trillion posts!

Alert | | The parking issue at Pacana is being resolved with the expansion and the addition of close to 200 spots and two new lighted fields so hopefully use at the wash declines a little.

Alert | I heard anyimal control picked up a 4 1/2' rattle snake over in that area last week. Somewhere between the school and wash. Might want to re-consider the location.
