Alert | He's part of the Dugan Dairy dynasty. His operation is the dairy just south of Central Arizona College. http://dugan2008.com/
He's running against Democratic incumbent David Snider in the primary. http://www.davidsnider.com

Alert | I have met the guy on many occassions. He was born and raised in the County and knows the issues well. Very approachable and I would pick him over snider any day. Dennis is open to a lot of discussion and suggestions. He also surrounds himself with good quality friends.

Alert | | I heard the story of how his family moved from Wisconsin, and his dad started working on a dairy in Chandler, then slowly started his own. Then all of the six sons each started their own dairies. Dennis moved to Casa Grande in the 80's and has a successful dairy there. Wouldn't it be great if he could use what he knows and make Pinal County a success too?

Alert | Posted By chessman on 07/08/2008 3:43 PM Mr. Dugan is running agianst David Snider for his district 3 County Supervisor's seat. Does anybody know anything about him? Here's information from the EWG Farm Subsidy Database. This is in no way to be construed as an attack on Dennis Dugan. By law, Mr. Dugan is entitled to crop and dairy subsidy payments like every other eligible farmer. This is public information which may be of value to voters in their selection of candidates. http://farm.ewg.org/farm/persondetail.php?custnumber=010689273

Alert | It is interesting to look at the site and see that most farmers in Pinal County receive some sort of subsidy payment. These payments are paid to offset the cost of fuel and feed to the farmers and help to keep commodity and the food prices down. It is also interesting to see the amount Mr. Dugan has received over the last few years in contrast to many of local farmers

Alert | I'm struggling with a decision this year. I've met all three candidates and am wholly unimpressed. Snider and I have deferring opinions about what is good for the county and the people in it. That said, Snider does know his way around the Government. Unfortunately, this also makes him dangerous as a politician who I don't agree with.
Dugan has a few good ideas, but he is not well educated on the laws that dictate how governments must be run. He focuses on one side of every issue, and I've found that no matter what I believe, there is always another perspective to be understood before making statements containing the words "always" and "never".
I believe that Hollenbach shares more of my ideals, but I have a very low opinion of him professionally and can't expect him to change his behaviors when he gets into office.
Now the question I have to ask myself is if I think that Snider is enough of a risk to cause me to vote for one of the others. At the very least I have to believe that removing Snider before he gets more entrenched is a good thing. | | This message was composed entirely of 100% recycled electrons; minimum 35% post-consumer content.

Alert | I agree, but did Snider have that much government experience before he was elected? City Librarian is a long way from Supervisor. Maybe Dugan is using his experience from other boards he's on, and is learning - or will learn fast. At the very least, I think he would be more open and accessible to the public and their concerns.

Alert | I agree with that sentiment. Two of the three candidates own their own businesses and have been fairly successful with them. Neither of the challengers needs the position for the income.
Snider doesn't have any other clear career path. I have seen his expense reports and can say that appears that he squeezes the county for every penny he can. Maybe David Snider just does that much more than the other two supervisors, but it does seem odd that the expenses he charges the county amount to bunch more than the other supervisor's. The one that got me was charging the county for the time and expense to attend a funeral. I do understand that there are boondoggles that have benefit to the county from a political perspective, but I get the impression that Snider hasn't bought a meal for himself since being elected.
Before the attacks begin, the word I used was impression. Impression is what gets politicians elected (or re-elected). | | This message was composed entirely of 100% recycled electrons; minimum 35% post-consumer content.

Alert | Interesting........ I wonder if that was the funeral I attended in Casa Grande where he positioned himself at the back of the church and made it his own campaign receiving line as we left the service. Most of us felt very offended by it.
