Alert | Just wondered if anyone can reccomend a cell phone/service. I've never had one and want it just for driving back and forth so will use it very little. I think there is a service where there is no monthly charge, but you pay ahead a nominal fee?
According to Consumer Reports, Verizon has the best record, but I wonder if that is true for our area in Maricopa. CJ

Alert | I have sprint, I love there service...what they have a horrible range. They still work out here but suck, do not go with them.
Verizon is going to be the best service, but I would try to go online to find out if they do have service out here...90 percent certain that they do. They are going to the clearest out of all service providers. I used to cell a wide variety of different cell phone brands when I worked at Best Buy, they have always have good service (not the best customer service or in expensive add-ons, but the best signal).

Alert | | Thanks, the general consensus is that Verizon is the best bet for Maricopa area. However, I am cheap and will hardly use the cellphone, only when traveling...and I was hoping to forgo any monthly fee and just get a prepaid card...no can do with Verizon, so have laid it to rest for the time being.

Alert | | We've had T-Mobile for years with no issues. They do offer pre-paid plans. | | Janice, not Janet.

Alert | | I use T-mobile and have had no problems with service at all. If we did I would change services, there's no way I'm having my wife drive the 347 twice a day with ify service.

Alert | | Thanks for the input. Verizon does seem to be the best service, but since it has no prepaid card plans, I went with T-mobile...have just begun using it, so no problems so far.

Alert | | I thought I was the only one with this dilemma. I want to make sure I choose the right cell phone provider because I don't want to be on 347 in the middle of the desert with no signal. I already have a crappy phone with that service (nextel/sprint). I really enjoy the direct-connect option to talk to my family and friends without having to dial them up. It's just a click and there they are. Oh well, I'll sacrifice simplicity for a good cell service.

Alert | | We just switched from T-Mobile to Verizon last Saturday. We loved T-Mobile for years and still do, but experienced alot of dropped calls and cell trouble in Maricopa. Maricopa is a "dead zone" for cell carriers so we have to deal with the service we have. We did some research too and found Verizon to have the best service available in Maricopa. We are very happy so far, love our new phones, and are enjoying worrying less about dropped calls and reception. Hope this info helps.
