Alert | I did go to my doctor last week. He said it is likely that I do have the Nile virus, but becasue I am otherwise a healthy person and all symptoms were MILD - that I didn't even need a blood test - just ride it through. He said a blood test is necessary ONLY if you are pregnant, elderly, have a compromised system, etc, and/or have a severe headache or severe symptoms which could lead to encephalitis or menengitis etc.
He said I could get a blood test just for my info and that he can then report it to the Health Dept. If they get enough (!) cases, they might(?) request a spraying program for the area. So I did get a blood test done, but have not got the results back. I am feeling much better with just a hint of fatigue in the mornings.
For more info, please check out online - all the sites I referred to had exactly the same info.

Alert | That just isn't right. If your doctor even suspected that you might have West Nile he should have requested that you get tested so that it CAN be reported to Health Department so that they CAN work on MORE spraying. They've already done it twice. They don't sit around waiting for more cases before they start spraying. They start spraying when there are mosquito's that they catch in the traps that they set test positive for West Nile Virus. This is something serious and they don't take it lightly.
I'm glad that your healthy and not in danger of becoming sicker. This isn't something to mess with. | | Senior Member Posts: 4625 Joined: Feb 2006 | |
