I called Brent Billingsly City of Maricopa 520-568-9098 to check on our many requests. Here's the update: The Public Works Staff has approved the plans for the round abouts. This means, that the roundabouts will be "signed appropriately" for a round about. AKA, the stop signs will be removed and all proper round about signs will be installed at both round abouts in Cobblestone Farms. He noted that the ONE WAY signs around the island where the pool is were taken down and that's not good. He is going to have the one way signs reinstalled. The increase in patrol around the area not only was due to the community calling in and reporting speeding, but it was also at his request. So we should all be thankful for that as well. Finally, the left turn arrow request that was brought up at the last HOA board meeting by a member in the community needs to be addressed by ADOT and not the City of Maricopa. Brent assured me that ADOT is aware of this request and is looking into "additional phases at ALL signals" throughout the city of Maricopa. In approximately March of this year, ADOT performed traffic counts/research on all signals to determine what/if any additional phases (light signal length and left turn arrows, etc) are needed. Look for these changes to occur over the next year. Kimberly PS He is still going to try and be present or send a rep for the next HOA board meeting on October 16th from 6-8 pm.

Hahahahaha...ADOT has been "looking into" turn arrows/additional lanes forever. Remember, this is the department that installed the idiotic turn lane setup at CF/RED/347 that has had multiple fatalities. This is the same department that decided to stripe the left turn lane onto Smith-Enke from 347 South as one lane instead of two, even though there is tons of room. Of all of the intersections needing a left turn on arrow only, the CF/347 light near Chase bank is not one of them. That one has excellent visibility and is completely safe to wait in the intersection on a green light. Great to hear though that they're actually doing something about the roundabouts. If they were installed correctly in the first place they wouldn't even need any signs.
