Alert | Ok folks...here's the deal.
There are some board members that due to unforseeable circumstances won't be in attandance for the July 17th board meeting.
There are two of us that WILL be present...this is not enough for a quorum.
The bottom line is, Linda from the management company wants to CANCEL the meeting on July 17th....
This is NOT acceptable to me or to the others on the board.
We feel that there is NOT enough time to cancel (we are 5 days away from the meeting there is NO TIME to send postcards to the community and to come up with a reschedule date) and furthermore, despite the fact that we wouldn't be able to VOTE on anything during the executive session, we feel it is still CRITICAL for the meeting to be held so that YOU (The Cobblestone Farms Community) can come and speak your minds.
The HOA board is proposing that we still meet and allow for the OPEN FORUM. It is our hopes that you folks will come and speak.
We feel that the management company needs to be present to hear YOU. Furthermore, if there are board members willing to meet (there are: Kimberly and Lisa) then the Management Company should have representation there...afterall, this meeting has already been scheduled and planned for....THE MANAGEMENT COMPANY SHOULD BE THERE!!!!!
Here's what Linda had to say:
Kimberly & All, Without a majority (quorum) of board members at a meeting, there is no board meeting and no business can be conducted. If you and Lisa want to be at the room for folks to come and air their issues, complaints, or ask questions, it's just a discussion meeting. Frankly, homeowners may be very turned off because there will be no meeting and nothing in the form of business will take place. They may feel it's a waste of their time. However, this is Bernadette's decision to make, as the President of the HOA Board. Although I have been part of them before, I will not be able to attend.
Again, I need to know ASAP to either keep the room or let it go.
Thank you. Linda Severs 480-345-0046 ext 129 480-345-1728 fax
This is what I had to say:
All:
Lisa and I just spoke and we are in agreement to meet on July 17th at 6pm. We will articulate to the Cobblestone Farms residents that no business can be conducted as their are not enough HOA board members present to have a quorum.
Lisa and I feel it is too short of a notice to cancel with the homeowners and furthermore feel strongly that it's important that if some of us are able to attend the meeting to hear their needs and wishes and complaints...we should be.
Linda -- Lisa and I will be there on July 17 at 6pm. The meeting place is still in the room next to the MVD? Will you be present at the meeting? If not who from your management company will be present.
Regards, Kimberly
Furthermore, I added this:
Linda...
Lisa said she spoke with you and indicated that you WOULD be there and that you would be wearing teflon! ha!
So who from your company will be present?
I believe that if you have active HOA board members willing to meet to talk to the people in the community that at a MINIMUM someone (if not you) from your company should be present to hear the people that you work for.
Then I added this:
I hope you don't mind if I post your email on our website. I think it would be beneficial for the Cobblestone Farms community to see what you have to say.
HOMEOWNERS want to be heard.
If we cancel without notice, that would be FAR WORSE.
Regards, Kimberly
This company MUST GO and MUST GO QUICKLY!!!!!!!

Alert | Oh and this is the WHOPPER of the email I just sent:
Linda.....
I am making a request to the management company.....
The people at Cobblestone Farms want to talk to YOU and YOUR COMPANY.
I have had many people very anxious for this meeting.
In my opinion and mine only---the other board members can speak as they see fit--I have NOT been happy with you or your company.
This is one more indication to me that you and your company cares very little about Cobblestone Farms and the people in our Maricopa Community.
So what if there isn't a quorum, the meeting was scheduled and postcards sent.
You came on board to a BAD situation in which Moonlight at Cobblestone Farms residents were not happy with Cheryl or your company.
This is really the time to REDEEM your company and try and change the perception that the Moonlight at Cobblestone Farms community has about your company.
Your presence would show that YOU CARE and are willing to come to hear the people that ultimately pay your paycheck.
It's bad enough that you folks won't come down at night to see what's going on with the lights.
But you folks sure can drive around and access for weeds, etc.
Show that you care...show that your company cares....have someone present.
If not, don't be surprised if I don't suggest that we change management companies.
Kimberly

Alert | It just keeps getting better:
Posting my e-mail on your websight is inappropriate. Please don't.
I agree with you that cancelling is not the best to do, I have had to do it before and when you have lots of folks that probably would come, it is very disappointing. If the two of you plan to do this, with Bernie's approval, take lots of notes.
Are homeowners using the website to air their issues?? Thank you. Linda Severs 480-345-0046 ext 129 480-345-1728 fax
My response:
Bernie has already given her approval to me via phone.
Your email address was not posted....but your comments along with your phone number was.
And by the way, precisely WHY is it NOT appropriate for the community to be able to reach you? They have your phone number...it's mailed out on all the postcards. And you and your manager gave out the email address at the last meeting.
Best Regards, Kimberly

Alert | | You may not have a quarum but shouldn't everyone on the board have extablished proxy's who can vote in their absence? Is that allowed on the HOA board? | | Just the good ol' boys, Never meanin' no harm, Beats all you've ever saw, been in trouble with the law since the day they was born.
Straight'nin' the curve, Flat'nin' the hills. Someday the moutain might get 'em, but the law never will.
Makin' their way, The only way they know how, That's just a little bit more than the law will allow.
Just good ol' boys, Wouldn't change if they could, Fightin' the system like a true modern day Robin Hood.

Alert | Sorry I didn't reply sooner. Lisa (who is the HOA Board Treasurer and a practicing lawyer) and I discussed your question in regards to proxy voting. Due to Arizona State Open Meeting Law, we cannot do proxy voting.

I have read and understood the posting on this thread and have nothing to add.
| | Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem. ______________________________________ *************************************** San Diego Super Chargers! GO!!! Joined old forum March 2006 Post count: 3068 + these | |

Alert | You can call and ask Linda Severs that....she didn't want me posting any of her emails OR her contact information on the forum. Oddly, she gave out her contact information at the HOA Board Meeting on June 19th when she and her manager where present.
I think they are worried that this will cause a stink and she and her company don't want to look bad.
All I can say is, I didn't ask her permission initially to post the emails. I feel that when she is talking to me via email she is speaking directly with the Cobblestone Farms Community.
I'm just the piddley secretary.....but I can tell you I am NOT happy and still am NOT happy with the management company.
Basically I feel that the HOA board has our hands tied. They are in control....not us....that's the way it feels.
