The four blocks of Honeycutt between John Wayne Parkway and Maricopa Groves Parkway is packed with at least 50 homebuilding signs. It is the ugliest sight I've ever seen. I know for a fact from some business owners in town that if they even dare put out a small banner in front of their business they get an immediate call. Well, as far as I'm concerned, the city should be telling these home builders to remove their ugly signs. It's downright embarrassing and it looks like hell! I counted these signs driving past today. In some cases the same builder has four or five signs in a row. The HOA is concerned about a few weeds in yards after a rain, but where are they on this matter?

This is not an HOA issue. This is a city issue. First off, let me say that I agree with you. I think homebuilder signs, as well as the influx of political signs, are unsightly. However, municipalities don't just allow these signs, they encourage them. The City of Chandler specifically prohibits the display of any sign or banner for any product or service, except for new home sales and yard sales. I donthave time to read the Maricopa City Code right now, but Im willing to be the same verbage is written in there. If you want action taken, head to a council meeting, and tell them how you feel.

I found it.  But it's too long to post here.  Find it on Maricopa's website, under City Code.

So pick them all up and take them to the dump.  If anyone says anything, tell them you were doing your part to pick up trash in the city.

I thought of that, RichTig. With my luck, the police would be lurking around the corner, and I'd get nabbed. I do think someone was in a big hurry to remove some of them, there are just stubs of stakes in the ground where they were taken down.

They are erected on Friday evening or Saturday morning and pull them Sunday evening. By doing this they avoid having to deal with any officials. Compliance officer works M-F. It's the same on John Wayne Parkway. They plant the signs on the 347 easement putting the signs out of Maricopa jurisdiction.
I doubt you could be arested or fined for pulling them since they are ALL illegal. However, you can get ticketed if you are putting them in the back of a vehicle and onstructing traffic when you stop to pick them up.
I actually worked with ADOT several months ago and they sent an official out on Saturday who pulled all the signs on the 347 in town. All the signs were right back up the next weekend. One Sunday ws clean though.

The city is starting a sign kiosk program for Maricopa, so pretty soon the builders won't be able to put out their weekend signs anymore. Builders will only be able to use the Kiosk's for signage. Your weekends will be sign free! Not sure when the kiosks go up, but probably within the next few months.

Looks like the kiosks are all up. I'm sure all of the weekend signs will be gone soon.
