In the letter the terms are vague....it says 1-5 years- do we vote on this? (how long memembers stay on the board)

I was also suprised by how vague the letter was. I did sumbit a resume to participate on the Board and received the same letter everyone else did. I would have thought that those of us who where "Nominees" might have received additional information regarding the terms, duties, commitment etc...Hopefully we will have a good turn out at the meeting on 2.6.08 and learn more about how the Board will work and what sort of things can be accomplished now that we as the homeowners have more input.

I also submitted a 100 word resume that was cut to about 50 words and so my resume sounded pretty silly in that letter. My name is Reagan Wichman and the point of my letter was to say that I have sold the Pulte Homes here in Senita since Senita opened in 2004. I know pretty much everything about this community because I have been here since Senita was a big dirt lot. I also purchased a home in phase 1 and have lived in Senita since 2005. I have never been on a HOA board before but know how to communicate well and think my overall knowledge of the community will be a benefit to the HOA board. My main reasoning for wanting to be on the board is to keep the community looking good (trash cans put back / weeds picked, etc.). We all deserve to live in a clean and great looking neighborhood that we can be happy to call home. Looking at big green trash cans 7 days a week in people's driveways is something that needs to be addressed asap. So I would appreciate your support to be on the HOA board. Let me know if you have any questions.

I was also interested to see what the length of term we are running for? I did see it said 1, 2 or 3 years or something like that? Maybe that is something we will determine at the meeting. I was also wondering how do we know who is going to be President, vice president, etc. because the ballot didn't let you specify what position you wanted.

Reagan - I agree that is was strange how they cut the essay that we sent in. They changed it to seem as though none of us could comlpete a well written paragraph and made our statements seem "choppy". by the way, I'm Leslie Kyte. Like you I work for a home builder (not Pulte or DR Horton) but I am on the financial end of things. I have never been on a Board but want to make sure our neighborhood is well kept and I want to know and understand how our dues are being spent. I have a friend in Alterra who said her dues used to include trash (like ours) but with no warning that stopped. They now pay for trash through the garbage company but their dues did not decrease and they have been given no explanation as to what is going on with the monies allocated for trash...I don't want things like that to begin happening here.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who was wondering about the terms and how they would decide positions such as President, Treasurer, etc...

Cheyenne and Reagdog-
I have to say that when we received the information for the candidates we both looked at each other and were like " this is it". I thought it would be more entailed with information and your right, it seemed choppy.
So we thought that at the meeting is when each candidate has a chance to speak? Hopefully....

Good Luck!

I agree it wasn't much to go on. I to submitted a bit more on my application that didn't show up. My name is Gordon Plumley and I own a home in phase 3. I believe that an HOA is there for the homeowner and not the board, and although there are by-laws and rules to go by there must be room for new ideas. We, as a collective group, can decide if the rules need to be amended or eliminated by a majority vote of the homeowners. We need to as a community make sure our neighborhood stays clean and to protect our investments, times are tough enough right now. Well enough said it's just my opinion, I hope to serve if not I will support the HOA.

I don't know if they are planning on having the nominees speak at the meeting. I would think if that was the plan, they would have notified us but we were given the ballot to mail in just like everyone else. I have been looking forward to this meeting on 2.6.08 and hope to be able to attend. Unfortunately, my grandfather is quite ill and I'm just waiting for "the phone call" at which point I will have to drop everything and get to CA to be with my family. So, just to be on the safe side I am going to mail ballot in on the off chance that I can't attend.

Does anyone know what sort of role Ogden will continue to play once we have elected members?

Alanf - I believe that we are allowed to write in nominees on the ballot. Do you mind me asking why you didn't submit an application? From your post above (and other previous posts) it's clear you want to make the best of our community so I would have thought you would have "ran for office" so to speak.

I emailed Kriss @ Ogden to try and get more info. I asked if we were required to attend the meeting and if we were going to be asked to give a speech or anything like that. He said it was not mandatory that nominees attend (as I mentioned above it's touch and go with my grandfather) but that it would be a good idea so if there are questions asked of us we could answer them....that didn't really tell me much so I still don't really know if we are going to be given a forum to tell people more about us or what???

Ok stupid question.....the ballot we received, is that for the people who cant attend and are to mail in, or is that how we all vote? I misunderstood that.....

jennse29 - originally I thought that the ballot only needed to be mailed if you could not attend. After re-reading it, I see your point...it says it must be returned no later than 2/4/08. The meeting is 2 days later on 2/6/08 so just to be safe and to make sure your vote counts, I would mail it in. If you then attend the meeting and are asked to vote just let them know you already mailed your vote in. They sure do make some of this stuff confusing!!

VOTE FOR ME!!!!!
I also submitted my bio...on the first day. I actually faxed it in a total of 4 times. But somehow Chris didn't realize my bio was actually on the fax because it was typed and he assumed it was part of his original form. . . The HOA refused to re-send the list of bios out with mine (as it would cost approx $500) so, here it is:

My name is Jesse Martinez and I have lived in this community just over 2 years. We chose Maricopa as my our home in part because it is a new community and there are many opportunities to take part in the growth of this new town.

Professionally, I am an Emergency Medical Technician/911 First Responder. I have been in EMS for over 5 years. I also have over 15years experience in Project Management in Telecommunications. I feel these skills would assist me as a member of the Board.

Previously, I have been President on one HOA and Member at Large on another. I have enjoyed being on both of those HOA Boards and took very seriously the responsibility placed on us as members. I am hoping to become a member on this Board to be a voice as we mold this association to fit the needs of our community and to assist in the preservation and growth in value of our homes.

It's unfortunate the my bio did not make it on the mailing. I am sure Chris will make it clear at the meeting next week that it was by no fault my own. But, I am hoping that this reaches many of the residents and that you take me into consideration when you place your vote.
