Alert | | I like the dark night sky, but when I drive home at night it's very dark, I almost had to use my high beam. I think they should, at least, place some street lights, for safety purposes.

Alert | | It isn't the builders choice on how many to place. There is a light ordinance in place by the county. We highly recommend that everyone use their coach light. You wouldn't think that it would be bright enough but really it is. | | Senior Member Posts: 4625 Joined: Feb 2006

Alert | | Yes, I'm aware of the ordinance. I do enjoy looking at that clear sky and stars, but, wow! it's almost pitch black looking down the street. I need to install one of them light motion detectors. You know, criminals like it to be nice and dark.

Alert | I have noticed that this community is one of the darkest. When I drive threw other communities that don't have street lights almost everyone has their lights on and it helps. If we band together and turn them on the neighborhood would be so much brighter. Please turn your lights on, it's beautiful to walk at night. If your worried about those electric bills alternate with a neighbor.

Alert | | I like how dark it is...that is one of the reasons why we moved to Maricopa.<img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/smile.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Smile' align='absmiddle'>

Alert | | But Maricopa is growing so fast that it isn't that safe to be so dark.

Alert | | Maricopa Meadows is loaded with street lights too. There are streetlights at the end of every block going east/west. Not sure what kind of ordinance the city has, but it can't be too restrictive.

Alert | The # of street lights are dependent on the builder. With the stabbing that happened months back you think this would be an issue.

Alert | | Same here crop. I am an amateur astronomer and although I still drive 60 miles south of Maricopa to get darker skies, I still like the fact that it's relatively dark here. As long as they install full cut-off lighting so the lights don't blast into the sky its not really a problem. Alot of people on my street leave their porch lights on.

Alert | You know, I should take some time to drive around the communities at night, just to get a feel of what it's like from each community.
I like the darkness too, I was raised in the country side when I was weeeee little. Having lived in the city for so long and getting use to all the lights in the city, I'm just use to turning my house lights off. I think as this town grows the light ordinance will change.
