Alert | | Improvement is a good thing, but constant bitching and complaining, calling your neighborhood "the hood" and things like that are blown out of proportion and rediculous, like most things posted on this forum.

Alert | | My concern is the crime rate in the neighborhood. Like I said before, I can deal with weeds. Any current Senita resident please reply.

Alert | | I think for the crime rate you would really have to look at Marciopa as a whole, rather than single out Senita. Every neighborhood is going to have its quirks.

Murder, rape, kidnappings, the drug cartel, bloods, crips, Hells Angels, and the mafia are all thoroughly prevalent in Senita. It keeps it interesting.
There is crime everywhere, you just may not hear about it. Do a zip code search on azcentral.com. That said, I don't think you have much to worry about, and if you base your decision on where to live by this website, you are making a mistake.

Alert | | I second that! I was walking throught the Villages and noticed they had Block Watch signs posted. Do you know if that is something through the HOA or city?

Alert | | The city has nothing to do with it. It is totally community run. Your HOA might be involved with it though. Contact your HOA board members. I'm sure that they have information regarding it. | | Senior Member Posts: 4625 Joined: Feb 2006

You are right about making a decision based on this website. That would be comepletely irresponsible on my part. There must be a reason why people still move her and why people remain here. Well, I'm building now, I'm just going to have to roll the dice. Sign my wife and I up for the Block Watch.

Alert | | We move into Senita 3 in the middle of September. We would also like to be involved with the HOA and block watch/neighborhood watch once we move in. We are investing plenty in a new home and would like to keep our neighborhood nice. | | Welfare's purpose should be to eliminate, as far as possible, the need for its own existence.

Alert | I have lived here for a year now, and to be honest there are alot of pros and cons to living in Senita. When we first moved here there were only 4 homes with families arleady living in them. 1 month passes and we get neighbors with 3 licensed drivers and 7 vehicles. People parking their vehicles on the front non-lanscaped yards. People having old vehicles on blocks for months. Seeing homes with weeds about 15 ft tall & 10 ft wide. Neighbors that will get up on Saturdays @ 6 a.m. to clean their garages with rap music blaring words like f this and ho that. I have seen neighbors doing 50 mph in a 25 mph area and children under the age of 5 near that. I was once forcedto play chicken with an 8 year old boy and my Yukon XL while coming home from shopping, when telling boy to get out of street, he gave me the finger. Things like that are the cons. pros are, The huge park with ramada for the kids to play in. The community for the most part always looks clean. It doesn't seem like a good trade off to me. Therefore we are in the process of selling our home and moving. | | A diamond with a flaw is worth more than a pebble without imperfections.

Alert | That is sad to hear. I know its hard to get everyone involved and be a part of the community. It seems in Phase 3 most of the homes are going to be owner occupied. At least that is what I have heard. I hope Phase 3 will come together and keep the neighborhood nice.
Good Luck in the future pstoneaz! | | Welfare's purpose should be to eliminate, as far as possible, the need for its own existence.

Alert | | pstoneaz says that their are cars on blocks (I've never seen one), weeds 10 feet high (again I've never seen any), cars parked in the front, non-landscaped yards (WTF? The yards come landscaped when they are built. Who the hell doesn't have their front yard landscaped?) then he says that the community always looks clean. I'm confused.

Alert | We will have been in Senita for 2 years next week. We were part of the whole lottery process. I have no complaints about Senita. We initially wanted to buy a "investment property" but were told we couldn't. Then we find out about all the investors that did get in. Yes the weeds are a little out of control. We thankfully have awesome neighbors, so no complaining about that. I would like to know where the 5 tot lots are that we pay to have maintained? I had my MP3 player stolen out of my SUV about a year ago. We love our house, and plan to be here for sometime to come. Bstone, Pstone, where is your house located in Senita?

Alert | Come to Estrada Street (third left when you enter off Honeycutt). There is one house that has been owned for about a year with no front yard landscaping. Yes, DR Horton includes it, but it's up to the homeowner to schedule the landscape company to come put it in...
As far as the weeds, she exagerated a bit, but I have walked by some that were taller than 6'. Most of those have been cleaned up, but she's really not too far off base. Oh, and there is a house (the one next door to the people with no landscaping, actually) where when tey first moved in they would park two cars in their front yard while it was still dirt. These are also the same people who had some POS car on blocks within a week of moving in.

We are on Estrada, third left when entering from Honeycutt. It's the one with the Century 21 sign in the yard.

Alert | | I have been on Bstones street and for the most part it has gotten little better but I remember about a year or so ago the weed issue and also the front yard deal. In fact B is that house still not Landscaped in the front? Anyway I have seen the kids unsupervised in the street while driving around and have also watched a fight between kids at the park. I believe once Bstone moves out of the neighborhood things should get better. Watch out Cobble Stone! Alert | | Sorry, it is my house that's not landscaped. I wonder if that's why I keep getting violation letters in the mail? Oh, RJ, can you please tell your Mom to come get her car off my yard, I'm getting sick of looking at a 83 Chevette when I walk out front. | | Just the good ol' boys, Never meanin' no harm, Beats all you've ever saw, been in trouble with the law since the day they was born.

Alert | Bstone, I totally believe you! I was just asking where you lived, as I remember when you were first talking about selling your house a couple of months ago. I remeber you have the 3900 sq. foot model right? And you had lots of upgrades done? I am seriously interested in looking at it to buy. That's all. I am in phase one and it seemes to have all the front landscapes done, including the great 6 foot weeds on all the vacant houses. I hope you find the peace your family is looking for over in CF. I have a couple of great friends that live in there. I dreamt of building a house over there when it first started, it was a fully finished basement with a built in bar and like 7 bedrooms, it was Gorgeous! Way too expensive for us though. I will knock and introduce myself. Thanks for the info.
