Does anyone know if we are allowed to have a flag pole in our front yard, and if so what are the restrictions if any?

According to ARS 33-1808 HOAs are not allowed to prohibit the display of an American flag in a manner consistant with flag code. They can however regulate location and size of the flagpole.

You'll need to check with your HOA for their rules, but they can't say NO.

Correct congress passed it where they HOA can not say no to state, MIA/POW or the American flag. Most just regulate the height and the condition. Check your design guidelines or contact your community manager for specifics.

P.S. it has also been passed that residental properties do not have to take down or light the flag at night.

Absolutely, if you're going to have a flag why wouldn't you also want to abide by the "rules" of flag display? Either light it up at night or take it down.

Plus, if you never take it down....you never see how ragged and dirty it has gotten. And then you become "pond scum" IMHO.

No. It should be muddy and ragged. It should actually be used at the toilet prior to flying it, and once again before disposal.

Just curious is anyone else going to display a flag on their homes. I love this country and am eternally grateful for all the sacrifice it has taken to build and protect it. BTW has anyone seen this clip? I love it... http://youtube.com/watch?v=te-cKxsBapM

I've already got a 16 footer in my yard that has a flag all year.

Sure hope you maintain it properly. I'll be putting one in as soon as I've completed all landscaping projects.

Of course I do. Nothing worse than a ripped up or faded flag. That is totally disrespectful.

It was the first thing that we did after moving in. The art flag came later though.

Right on!!!

Our is 16 because we didn't put in one of the extensions. It would have been to tall for the area that it was in.

I wish that everyone would. I know that one of the communities over in Altera was putting American Flags on all of their homes as a congrats gift. I thought that was so cool.

I was thinking of a Canadian Flag in my yard. One of those 20' X 30' flags on a 75' pole. Yeah!

Didn't they teach you in the Navy you're not supposed to capitalize every single word? Would you like an Air Force vet to come over and tutor you on the English language? LOL.

You ever notice how England's flag is reversible? That way no one can get any satisfaction by turning it up side down. They should change our flag just to piss off all the Anti-Americans.
