I'm dissapointed that there is no pool in the Senita Community.  It seems like most of the other communities have their own pool...and pay close to the same amount for HOA.  I saw the Maricopa pool off of Casa Grande/Maricopa Rd. and it looked kinda scary...barbed wire running on top of the fence?  I love living in Senita, I just feel like we got the short end of the stick.  Is there anything we can do to get a club house/pool into our community or is it too late?  Just trying to get the most for our HOA dollars that our hard earned money pays for and perhaps even increase the value of our homes.

There is no way we could afford to ad an ammenity like that, financially speaking. Even if we could afford it, I don't think we "could." Where would it go? All the open spaces are retention basins designed to hold rain water.

I don't know when you bought, but in the height of things, one of the attractive things about Senita was that the prices for thousands of dollars cheaper than other communities. One of the reasons the prices were lower here is because we weren't finding a clubhouse, splash pad, tennis courts, a pool, a spa, or anything like that.

As for the pool on M/CG Freeway, talk to the Rotary Club. They own the pool and are working very hard to try to re-open it. I "hear" that the city wants to take the pool and land under Imminant Domain, but I have no facts to back that claim up. But, if you want a pool near your house, contact the Rotary Club of Maricopa and find out what you can do to help get that pool up and running.

If I recall correctly there are only two communities that have pools and only one community that has a club house here in Maricopa.

The whole point of the barbed wire fence is to keep people (kids)  from scaling the fence and being in there without supervision.  I for one would rather see the barbed wire and know that no one could climb over then to have someone climb over and possible drown.

There is nothing stopping you from putting a pool in your own backyard.   Simplified the cost of your HOA dues is based on the cost to maintain the community divided by the number of homes.

I know of "four" communities with pools:

Cobblestone has a pool and splashpad
Villages at RED has a pool
Glennwilde has two pools
Desert Passage has a pool

Be thankful you DON'T have a community pool: they are extremely expensive to maintain and repair (when unsupervised children run a-muck while their parent(s) work all day). Having your own personal pool, and lower HOA fees, is the only way to go...

I can understand if there is no place for a pool...which is apparently the case, but to say that we shouldn't have one because of the unsupervised children or saying that it's a good thing to have barbed wire around the fence of a pool because of children getting in is a bit much.  "Bubble wrapping" this town isn't going to prevent injuries/death...it only makes our town look like we are trashy human beings in a "prison" like town that have no control over our children.  What ever happend to parents having control over their children, teaching them respect and not letting them wander where ever they please?  It's terrible how we cater to people that can't control their children and/or don't respect the community.

As far as being expensive, the HOA fees in the other communities are very comparable to what ours is.  For instance, Glenwilde is only pays around $80 and they have two pools.  On a scale from ours to theirs...we have a lot more houses than they do...and I get the whole "buying power".

My point in my fist post was, it would have been nice to have a place to have a pool party with the neighbors or have our kids get together for some supervised fun...as the parks are great for winter, but get quite hot in the summer for both parents and kids.  In a apartment that I used to rent a while back, we used to have a community pool and we would get a handful of neighbors in for a pool party...everyone would bring something to grill or sodas...someone would bring the grill, and we would make a whole day out of it.  It would have been nice to do that here...but it seems like the mindset here is to only worry about yourself.

The builders can't please everyone. As everyone knows, the $62/mo includes BASIC cable, garbage and recycling pick-up and maintenance of the common areas. Some people complain that the HOA includes cable. Some complain that it includes garbage & recycling. If we had a pool, I GUARANTEE people would complain that the HOA is paying for a pool that most people wouldn't use because a lot of people put in their own pool.

It is a lose-lose situation for what ever the builder does because someone will always want something else. That's why everyone can decide where they want to live. If a pool was the most important amenity you wanted in a community, then you should buy in one of the four communities listed above. I don't think any of us were forced to live where we currently live. We all made our own choice.

You can always build a pool yourself in your own backyard, invite your neighbors over and have your bbq and swim party.

Then you won't have to look at the barbed wire which I might add not only prevents the kids from getting in but also the adults.  Unless of course you would like to be responsible since you don't want to have the bubble wrap.   In case you don't remember the pool is on Maricopa/Casa Grande Highway.

So now the adults are as bad as the kids?  Or maybe the parents AND kids are both in on it and going around and trying to break into the pools?  So why don't the communities that have the pools have barbed wire too?  Hmmm...perhaps because if a prospective buyer came buy and saw that, they would think twice about moving here?  I know for sure that would raise a red flag to a lot of families.  What's next?  Bars on our windows and doors to keep out the crooks?  Is Maricopa that bad that we can't have a pool that looks inviting?  Come on...there are other ways to protect the nice things in Maricopa that don't look like we are surrounded by nothing but vandals.

And maybe we shouldn't have a Home Depot or Walmart or any other type of business come here because people will complain about it.  I had overheard a lady at the post office say that she is moving because this town is growing to big for her.  Yes, you can't please all the people all the time, but for those that might have used the pool or clubhouse it would have been an added benefit, not to mention raise everyones home value...just like the new stores that will be coming hopefully soon.

And heaven forbid that someone should suggest a pool or clubhouse for their community.  Only one person suggested something about speaking with someone about it.  Doesn't seem like the rest have open minds here.  Like I said, it seems like the mind set around here is to think about yourself.

I agree that a Senita community pool would have been a nice ammenity. But they did not plan for, nor did they build one. So I had my own built. I can just imagine what our little POS Senita Gangstas would do to a pool and clubhouse. Have you taken a look at the basketball court and surrounding equipment lately Babyangel?

Is your backyard even landscaped Babyangel?

I don't live in Senita but I can see everyone's point. I live in Desert Passage, where we do have a pool. Granted it is a nice ammenity to be able to go to when it is hot out but there are negatives to it also. I am not sure about the other communities but I know we have problems with people from other communities jumping our pool fence. In fact, we have kids and adults who like to use drugs in the bathroom at the pool. We pay our HOA fees to keep the pool and pool area clean, yet people from other communities come over here and trash the place. We are the ones who will have to pay the increased fees. Just be glad you don't have that problem.

Saying that your pool is getting trashed by people from 'Other' communities is a fairly large assumption.

Having a private community pool is like spending the money to put a balcony on your house. It sounds cool, looks cool (usually), but is rarely used and a waste of money. Only difference is, people don't typically hop up on your balcony and poop on it. We desperately need a DECENT public pool that the city will maintain; a place for swim lessons, a swim team and for folks to gather and play.

Alanf...yes, my backyard is landscaped.  I take pride in living in Senita and do what I can to make sure it looks nice...going to the abandoned house near me to pull weeds,  I take down those stupid ads on the mailboxes...babysitters, lost dogs, HOA meeting notices...blah blah blah.  That's what I have time to do, but in the future will have more time to devote to our wonderful community.  I think it's important to teach my kids that taking care of our community is as important as taking care of our own home.  No, I have not seen what happend to the basketball courts.  Care to enlighten me?  And what equipment are you refering to?

Perhaps thick has the right idea...why not just benefit our community, but our entire town?  That would be great!  Last time I went to the YMCA, they told me that they were planning on building a Y in Maricopa in 2009 or 2010.  Granted, they are "planning" and no solid word of them actually making that move, it would be great to have them here.

And as far as the gangstas...doesn't anyone have the slightest idea of who they might be?  Have they ever been caught?

When we moved here 3 years ago, the VRED pool was having a lot of difficulty with vandalism. People threw chairs in the pool, I think someone crapped in it once - it was nasty. And that pool does have security measures. So how much worse would the Rotary pool be?

I do get it that this city needs to start marketing itself and that they are failing to do it. How can we compete for homebuyers when it looks so ghetto?

We wish! They're forever throwing beer cans into our side yard and beer bottles over the fence into our back yard. They roam the streets all night long. Pretty scary! Every time we drive into town from Hidden Valley, we find more trash thrown into our yard.

Proud conservatives happily living on our acreage in the beautiful mountains of Hidden Valley with no HOA.

Desertgal...do you have security cameras?  Or maybe one night out of the week, sitting out in your yard to see who is doing it and calling the police?  Have you reported this to the police at all...if so, what have they told you?  I'm trying to think of ways to help remedy your situation...which Senita are you in?  I can't believe these people have nothing better to do but go around trashing our neighborhood.  I'm sorry you have to go through that, I'm hoping that if we all put our heads together we can come up with a solution to get this to stop!

First off, "WELCOME"!!!

Phase I is West of Maricopa Groves.
Phase II is East of Maricopa Groves to the Santa Rosa Wash.
Phase III is East of the Santa Rosa Wash.

East is driving away from 347 on Honeycutt or Maricopa/Casa Grande Hiway(238).

thanks, I figured it started on the west side and started moving east...just wasn't sure where the dividing lines were.  Talk about fate, I'm moving from Kristal Way in Phoenix to Kristal Lane in Maricopa...way too weird...and never planned it that way
