Alert | I found out (check out Home & Garden thread) that The Villages have a clause for coach lights written into there HOAs ($25 fine) and was wondering if that could be done for us? I would love it our community would have the coach lights turned on nightly. Any thoughts?

Alert | I think it's a good idea, but how many people would complain that they have to spend the extra money using their electricity to keep their coach lights on all night yet their neighbor's who don't have any coach lights don't have to pay anything and they get the benefits?
If you are concerned with safety and light on your street, I would put together a block watch or get all of your neighbors to agree to leave their coach lights on at night. The HOA I don't think will touch this topic unless all home owners had coach lights and could participate equally.

Alert | In the Villages, the coach lights are operated by a photo-cell. They don't not have a switch that can be turned off/on manually. The $25 fine is to make sure people replace the bulbs when they burn out.

Alert | | I can't say that I like the idea. IMO, there are plenty of lights around to see where you are going. I would prefer that more people turned them off or set them up as motion lights instead of leaving them on constantly. I like to sit in my backyard and look up and actually see stars instead of a brightly lit sky from the ground up.

I guess it depends on how many coach lights you have on the front of your house and how many watts are in each bulb. I have 7 bulbs on the front of my house and they range from 60-100 watts and I would guess if I had them on for 12 hours a night every night of the week that the impact to my electric bill would be more than you think (I usually keep at least 3 or 4 on all night but not all 7). If I had 2 bulbs like most people do, I would agree that the electric bill would hardly go up.

Alert | | We would like to put a timer on our lights. What kind of timer do you have? I assume it wasn't builder installed because I don't believe it was an option, thru Pulte at least. Is the timer on the switch or something on the light itself? Please let me know, Thanks! | | Welfare's purpose should be to eliminate, as far as possible, the need for its own existence.

Buy one of these: Photo-Control If you have a separate circuit breaker for your lights in your main circuit box you can install it yourself... or have a handyman do it.. it's pretty simple.. -Shane | | ------------------------------------------------------------- Ultra Super Member Posts: eleventy-billion Joined: 10 Nov 1775 ------------------------------------------------------------- "There are only two kinds of people that understand Marines: Marines and the enemy. Alert | | Yes - just don't point the light directly at your neighbor's house where windows are.

Alert | | You would submit the request to krissl@ogdenre.com. E-mail him and he will forward you an HOA architectural request form.

Alert | It is funny. Because you are oh so vocal about the HOA and Managment Company not doing anything about dirty mailboxes, and weeds in your neighbor's yard, yet you willingly violate the CC&R's every opportunity you're given.
You most certainly are a pillar of the community, aren't you?
