I would like to personally thank each of the 30 people that took the time to come to the meeting tonight.  For our community's first meeting, I felt it went rather well, and ran smooth.

For those of you who missed it, the biggest item I felt, was that Kriss sent out 88 letters on Monday giving 14 days notice to eliminate weeds, or have them removed for you at a cost of $740.  So, by April 15th, there should be no more foot high weeds on vacant properties.  I was very happy with that.

Other items brought up, securing a wall on the east end of phase three, to put a physical barrier between a cul-de-sac and a new retail development, reviewing a bid from H&N Landscape, examining implementing a curfew in our tot lot/parks.

And my favorite part....putting faces to the avatars I see on here.

H&N also said they would do that wall for free if we selected them for landscaping... They are all a great bunch... Hopefully they get the bid.

A locally based company would benefit the HOA both logistically and financially. I've heard good things about H&N installations, but nothing of their large scale maintenance projects. I believe we should be looking for references from current and past HOA projects they have been involved with in conjunction with their job bid. Do we also need to notify other companies that we are open to new bids? I know there are legalities to keep in mind with municipalities and contracting.....but I think we are free to do as we please?

I also think that any company that wants to make a "PITCH" should be required to notify the HOA in advance so it can be placed on the agenda.

I deal with public bids & proposals everyday.  It's what I do.  If we are going to except a bid from H&N its only fair to solicite bids from other companies as well as the other guy we are using.  To just allow H&N to undercut our current company by 10% (which is what he said) would be unfair.  We must give everyone an equal chance.  I know nothing about H&N, only what I heard and saw last night.

I think it would be a great idea to use a local company.  HOWEVER, does anyone else see the potential for problems when using a company that has multiple owners living in the Senita community???  I don't do business with family for a reason.  Doctors don't treat family for a reason.  Just food for thought because I'm undecided on this one.

Hi Graham,

I wanted to sign up for one of the community groups last night but couldn't wait around after the meeting.  How do I go about this and what community groups are open?  By the way, you guys did a great job last night and I have full confidence in the board and Ogden.

Great points ChevyGuy. I had not considered the "Internal to Senita" aspects of using H&N. LOL, I alos thought they could probably use somebody else to lay out the "Pitch".   DOOM DOOM!!! Hey, by the way, I'll  save you 10% on your clean ups.  I was like What The.....

I was trying to figure out who you were..... no luck though.

LOL.  I was wondering if you were going to be there.  Hey your not the guy that everyone keeps driving in his driveway are you.  Man he was pissed.  Guess I would be too.  I must say....I feel really bad....because I've done that a few times.    I never really thought about it before.

I agree with you...that H&N guy couldn't have been any tackier.  I personally don't know him at all....but I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.  Maybe 5 feet.  lol.  I travel the country, perform presentaitons, compile proposals, and I was like you.....What The...  Hey did you notice there were like 10 people fron H&N there.  I thought it was going to be an H&N revolution.  Geez.  And then he kept arguing about the written proposal deal.  Hey kept saying "I've talked with the board about it".  How many times did Kriss have to say....send a proposal.

This is just my opinion and I've seen the H&N guys front yards...a little over the top.  Ok A LOT.  But nice porche though.  Maybe we all can start parking our cars on his 5 acres down the  road.

Hey what phase do you live in alanf?

Let the bidding begin. You would think that a Rep., working for H&N, living within the community would do a good job. I think it would be fair to let other company have a say, w/o every reaching to a quick conclusion.

Btw, enforcement needs to be followed up, quickly, just to let the owner know this is serious matter.

Can I add that it's quite difficult to hear, there's too much echoing.

Just throwing my opinion out there about H&N - yes, their yards are over the top but they really are beautiful. However, they did my yards (expanded on what we had done for free from the builder) The work that they did was fantastic, my yards are beautiful and they really were on the ball at first but now that the job is "done" in their books we are having a hard time getting a few issues resolved. There was a little bit of shadyness through our process and we are for the most part satisfied but has anyone heard of a 2nd company coming in and replacing the copper piping with pvc? Isnt there quite the market for copper right now and people are stealing it? Hmmm... shady and we're not happy. We submitted sometihng that needed to be fixed and havent heard back about it in 2 weeks. I feel like now that they have been paid they're ignoring us. I'm not saying use them or not, I'm just saying that about 1/2 of our experience with them was AWESOME and then the other 1/2 sucked. We'll see what they end up doing for us for me to have a final opinion.

nice to hear a customers review.  Thanks Linny.  I think one of my neighbors used them too, I'll get their opinion this weekend when they come over for da BBQ.  Don't you wish you were my neighbor.

oh by the way...replacing copper piping with pvc is VERY shaddy. Your right...copper is at all time highs right now in price. Hell...phelps dodge is opening up old mines here in AZ because of the price.

I would demand they give you back your copper. lol. Can you imagine how much money you could make if you were a landscaper who replaced everyones copper pipes with pvc. I know desert sky landscaping didn't do that but I have many issues with them. Mainly being so SLOW. lol.

Well, not only was there the pipe issue but when they poured concrete they took with them all of the rocks that were previously there. The same rocks that we were going to move into the back yard to same some $.

Thanks Borad Members and participants who were at the meeting! Nice to know that we want to work to make our community an awesome place to live
....I agree it was hard to hear in that room. As far as the meeting I think it went well. Before going I was fuming about the houses with weeds but then after hearing the process and explanations I have a better understanding of the battle.

As for hiring out for landscaping.....I think saving money would be the best thing to do, since most homes seem to need the clean up. I just couldnt believe that the Rep from H&N was talking over Kriss and not listening to what he was saying, not too professional....

ok I would have been PO'd. Not to toot my own horn......but that's exactly why I do my own landscaping. Just expanded our patio...after many hours of labor, 3 tons of fill dirt, 2 tons of 1/4 minus sand, and 380 16x8 pave stones.......I'm freaking done!!! It was tough but well worth the .effort after seeing my total bill because of doing it myself. $450. Toot toot!!! LOL.

Ice maker was turned back on. A landscaping company would usually take the rocks where a sidewalk was poured to dispose of them so you don't have to. I doubt they really had any place to put a small amount of rock and dirt and they would have probably been happy to leave it there so they didn't have to pay to dump it. I had a landscaping company come and clean up my backyard and they took all my old wood and pvc pipe without me having to ask - was a huge help because I had no way of disposing of it. I don't know anything about the copper vs. pvc pipe? I would call them and ask them if you have questions about their work.

Update on my opinion of H&N: I got a call from the owner and he was very nice, they are going to take care of us and make sure that we are happy. I really do appreciate that. Like I said before, they really did a fantastic job on our yards and we are very happy with the results. I'm sure that there was probably at least 20 people that through our entire process we dealt with starting from our first consult, to the workers, to the warranty people, etc and I'm sure that with any company that there may be 1 or 2 people that may hurt your opinion on the entrire group. I hope that no one will be swayed from using them in the future based on my prior posting. I am now "officially" satisfied with them as a company I just needed to know that we had not been forgotten about. Thanks H&N for the follow up!
