I agree with chevyguy considering we still have to pay $44.22 for a cable modem on top of $62.00 PLUS direct tv so cable tv is bs.

Ok well let me ask another question...don't all NEW communities have to pay the Orbitel fee?  I did agree to it at the time because I thought I was backed into a corner.  I didn't know there were other communities that didn't pay Orbitel.  If they all do pay then where was my choice?  If your telling me my choice was to pay Orbitel or choose another City then your talking nonsensical.  I received a great deal on my very first house.  My wife and I couldn't be happier.  Who ever heard of putting up with crap just becasue thats how it is.  I was told basic cable was FREE.  FREE doesn't equal $15.27.  Don't confuse my problem.  I'm fine with $62 a month.  But not fine with paying for something and getting nothing.

Oh well...I still love Copa & Senita.  For someone who doesn't watch much TV and loves to read, it hits a nerve.  I only have basic channels because I don't watch TV.  Has nothing to do with income.

Wrong or right...that's my story and I'm sticking to it.  lol.

All the new communities in Maricopa either have Orbital or Maricopa Broadband required and included with the HOA fees. That should have been explained when you accepted and signed for your CC&R documents. If I were told I got free cable (and I had not read my docs  where it explains it), I'd be pissed too. What I'm saying is that if you (nobody specific) can not handle the bylaws/CC&Rs as they are initially presented prior to purchasing your home, you have no business complaining about it afterwards (unless something changes later). I was told and read in my docs that I would be paying for Orbitel Basic Cable from my HOA fees (and why). I was told and read that each owner (not tenant) has the responsibility to adhere to the CC&Rs (I say owner because the fines will go to him/her).

And chevyguy....where are you paying for something and getting nothing? You lost me there.

I just did some research on Qwest TV/Internet and DirecTV. If you work the sales folks, you can get a great package..even while paying your HOA fees.

Sorry, I just can't find the love and sympathy for anybody whining about something that was disclosed prior to closing (either verbally, or in the documents). I mean who does not read everything that involves one of the biggest purchases of your life.

Actually, you do not have to have Orbitel Internet. You can get Qwest VDSL for $36.99 a month. And it's not on top of $62.00 a month. It's on top of $15.27 a month. Call Qwest, they handle Qwest Choice TV and DirecTV.

I definetly see your point Alan.  Let me clarify a bit.  I don't want cable.  All I want is my free channels and rabbit ears.  Soley because I hardly watch TV.  I love to read and am very active.  That's it.  Now because I'm paying the 15.27 a month I do get Orbitel's basic package at no additional charge because....I might as well.  However, I would rather get my 15.27 a month back and stick up some rabbit ears (assuming that would work out here in Maricopa).  It's really not a big deal so I didn't mean to drag this on.

BUT...I did sign the contract.  This is true.  Not that I had any other option besides not moving to Maricopa.  But I digress.  The Orbitel/Developer relationship was quite shaddy.  Orbitel didn't have the capital to develop the infrastructure so they thought of an innovative way to get something for nothing.  They charge people money for services they may or may not use.  Very interesting.  Wrong or right....thats exactly how it is.  They should have found another invester rather than passing the cost on down to the residents.  That would be like Fry's including a $15 HOA fee to maintain their parking lots.  It's insane.  But as Alanf said...we signed the contract....so no matter what....we should just give Orbitel our money.  I think I'll start writing a $15 a month check to Mountainside just becuase.  Maybe that will bring them back.  lol.  It's only $15 so whats the big deal.  As others would say...if you can't afford throwing away $15 then you should re-assess your finances.  Dumbest thing I've ever heard.  I don't remember who said it on here but it was retarded.

I do think it's funny that Orbitel tells everyone there getting a discount for basic cable at 15.27 a month.  There normal rate is like $20.  Well qwests NORMAL basic cable rate is 11.99/month and thats not a promotion.  On top of that I have their internet for only 26.99 a month.  Far better than Oribitel.

Sorry to bash Orbitel.  I just call it like I see it.  OK I'M DONE.  No more Orbitel talk.  I'm protesting myself.    Hope to see you all tonight at the HOA meeting.  We should where signs with our forum screen names.  lol.

You are incorrect. I have to pay $62 to they HOA no matter what. ORBITEL DO NOT SUPPLY A CABLE MODEM JUST BASIC CABLE TV. There is a HUGE difference between the speed on a DSL and a cable modem. I do not have land lines only cell phones and dealing with Qwest is a bigger pain in the ass then Orbitel.

In case no one has noticed, South Phoenix IS moving into Senita. Developers are building fancy places in South Phoenix and po fokes are being forced to find new digs. Sure glad I have my non-HOA place in Hidden Valley where no one bothers anyone else. I couldn't live in that mess called Maricopa.

She's my maid. I'll fire her today as it appears she is getting rather uppity with the community that she services.

Believe me, if I didn't own a house in Senita I, I wouldn't bother to post here. When my daughter moves to Ahwatukee, I will sell it and be done with HOAs. I haven't had any problems with the HOA because we keep everything as it should be. I just don't like the idea of HOAs.
