Alert | | I took my little boy to the park this morning and saw this company cutting the lawn and all of the trash that they ran over. I have posted about this before and there was no change in all of the trash around MM. There was three people cutting the lawn around the park and not one of them got off of their mower's to pick up trash the whole time. I called the company number listed on the side of their trailer and talked to Denise. She said that she will let them know to pick it up.. We'll see. There are good companies out there and we should not have to settle for less.. WE PAY FOR THIS.

Alert | | I think we need a new company.. I'm not comfortable supporting a company that is NOT in good standing with the BBB and they have many complaints against them with the ROC.. one of which is still unresolved. | | Tens of THOUSANDS of pure-bred dogs are killed in shelters in the Us EVERY YEAR!

Alert | | True but then everyone will just slam them also. It's a never ending saga here. Very sad to be honest with you. Someone posts something good about a company and then there is 15 posts slamming the same company. <img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/sad.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Sad' align='absmiddle'> | | Senior Member Posts: 4625 Joined: Feb 2006

Alert | | Twostep, there are many people who post things out of spite.. This was clearly not as you can see I wrote back the very next day saying thanks for cleaning it up. We should not have to thank for something that we pay for. HOA needs to put their foot down.. As soon as we pass over to Alterra HOA things seem to clean up. Same company?? I dunno but am sure that there is a well deserving company that will gladly take the business and do a good job.

Alert | My statement was totaly generic. I wasn't pointing or referencing anyone or anything with my post. I was only stating what this forum has turned into lately. The forum use to be a fun and helpful sight. Pretty much now it has turned into posts that slam the good things that people say and posts where people are asking innocent honest questions and then get slammed for doing so.
I knew that H&N would come back out and take care of the issue. I've had my own experiences with them but can tell you that they handled and cleared up any and all issues. | | Senior Member Posts: 4625 Joined: Feb 2006

Alert | | In driving out the Bowlin way towards the elementary school, I was SHOCKED to see how beautiful, green and lush the grass was over there - - - why is ours so yellow and dead looking compared to that side??? (Alterra I believe)

Alert | At the HOA annual meeting the owner of H & N was there to answer our questions/concerns. Among the issues brought up was the garbage; he is instructing his employees and will take care of it. The owner will be providing us with his email so we can deal with him directly. Let's see if there is any improvement.
As to our grass not being green and lush, we are not over seeding this year so we can put in lights; I don't know if this has anything to do with our grass "problem." I do know we live in the Sonoran Desert and are in the middle of a severe drought; perhaps we should consider getting rid of the grass entirely and help leave something for our kids? | | "The real trouble with war...is that it gives no one a chance to kill the right people." - Ezra Pound

I wouldn't go that far. I like the idea of my child playing on soft grass as opposed to standard desert rock landscape!

Alert | I have my home landscape serviced by H & N landscape. Although I have had some growing pains with them, I have voiced my concerns, and they have done everything they can to make it right so I continue my business with them. In fact, they recently did the overseeding for the grass in my back yard, and it looks fantastic.
Keep in mind H & N just took this over relatively recently. They are repairing 2 years of damage to the landscape throughout the community, which will take time. Also, In my discussions with them, part of the problem is that someone is stealing and damaging sprinklers. Its hard to keep grass green when it is not getting water.
Also, depending on the breed of grass that the original landscapers put in, it could just be yellow because it has gone dormant. I have noticed a big difference in the landscape since I found out H & N had taken it over.
I am not saying they are perfect. To this day, mistakes occasionally get made. But they have worked very hard to make things right in the few instances I have had problems.

Alert | I won't hold my breath on the light's being put in.. Or the Graffitti removed from my mailbox.... Or the weeds growing over the roof on vacant homes... And the street's being cleaned... Sidewalks repaired... and on and on and on..........
I hate to complain, but unfortunately we all have to pay for the lack of accountability that our HOA takes with putting our money to work properly.
Someone has a nice salary.

Alert | Southside,
Do you attend HOA meetings? If you do, then you would have gotten the answers/responses to your concerns. If you dont go, then maybe you should.
Should you want to know what the HOA is doing, contact our property manager Deborah Hyrb at dhyrb@pdsaz.com and she can enlighten you on all your concerns.

Alert | Celeste, thanks for the info. I would love to go to an HOA meeting. Unfortunately working 10+ hours per day and caring for a newborn and 2 year old consume all of my time. Hopefully my words on this post will not fall to deaf ears (or eye's I guess). Whatever the answers to my responses were... There is even more graffitti on my mailbox then there was before. The streets are still dirty and grass is close to dead. If we were not paying for it, you would not hear a peep out of my mouth.
If they plan the meeting's after 2100 when I finally get to take a breath, I will be happy to attend.

Alert | So side...Find another axe to grind. This one is old. There are FAR worse HOA's than ours. Our Hoa is responsive to the owners and fiscally responsible. Just read some of the other HOA forums and you can see what you could have. In the future try calling Debbie or emailing one of the directors first. They have always responded to quickly to graffitti and trash issues.
Celeste. I have noticed the street sweeper the last 2 months....THANKS!!!
Cub fan, if you want the HOA to be in the weed control business you will have to pay more in dues. They notify and fine but for actual weed removal on vacant property that is basically a non-recoverable expense to the HOA. Not everyone will be for a dues increase so you will have to politic if you want that added cost. As an FYI the grass that was planted by the builder (before our current HOA took over) is a type of grass that dies this time of year. In order to have green grass now it has to have been over-seeded by October. You could have voiced your opinion then when it was an agenda item back in Spetember I think. Now is too late to do anything about it.
In your postings you come across as trying to make our HOA board sound incompetent and unresponsive. I don't know if that is your intent but that is how it reads. If you were to take some time out of your busy schedule and invest it in learning how the HOA works you will find our board to be one fo the best ones in town. Our board is responsive and responsible and very friendly in doing a thankless job.

Alert | Maybe I just have high(er) expectations. The only things that you can account for are the thing's that you can see. I, or anyone else, should not have to complain or "call Debbie" to see something get done.
Again, thanks for the info.

I would say "unrealistic expectations" if you expect them to see and fix everything before YOU notice a problem.
