Utaz has a sign up near Juniper stating "Hospital Site". Does that mean they have that land zoned for a hospital in case someone is interested in putting one ther OR does it mean one is coming? I really don't think I want to live by a hospital.

I'm hearing about all sorts of crazy signs up around our neighborhood. A hospital would be... interesting. I have no idea. Who do we ask? In my opinion, the sales people are useless, but they may have some insight.

The sales people all say something different about anything you ask about. They're all relatively new, so that doesn't help. If you look on the UTAZ website they do NOT have it listed as to what it will be yet. They do one of two things though ... hospitals (Banner, Chandler Regional, Gilbert Mercy for example) OR they do what they call "professional villages". Those can be the types that have doctors offices in them (dentists, pediatricians, general doctors).

My money is on a hospital. Whether it's full fledged with trauma, NICU, ICU etc ... who knows. The reason I think it's a hospital for sure is this ....

1) The sign said HOSPITAL, not professional village.
2) Their website already shows 2 other sites of theirs down here that are going to be professional villages. I can't imagine more than that in a city that's just recently started to boom.

I'm torn on whether it's a good or bad thing. It's about .5-.75 miles from my house. It'll either be a good thing because of safety ... or it'll be crazy sirens all night long and it'll bring the crazy people all around our homes. Who knows. Either way, it's out of our hands.... Let's hope for the best!

Someone in another forum said "CHW who owns Mercy Gilbert and Chandler Regional Hospital informed some of their employees that they would be building a new hospital near Maricopa."

I've read that most hospitals will wait until there are a certain number of doctors in the city and a population of about 100,000. Since we are isolated I think the population could support a small hospital.

lets hope it's a level 1 trauma center. My wife works at st. joes in phoenix and says that they get a lot of maricopa and casa grande trauma patients. It would nice if they didn't have to take them so far during those first critical moments.

That's EXACTLY how I feel about them having a trauma center. It's MUST. Not even something to consider ... we HAVE to have that. People can and do die waiting for that flight up to St. Joe's. We need one here for our own safety should we one day, god forbid, need it ourselves.
