Can someone explain to me what impact fees are? My builder can't tell me what they are or if I have to pay them.

I think they are for road, police, fire and the like.

Impact fees are already included in the price of your house. The builder pays them at the time of permit. If your house is $190K, roughly $4,000 of that is impact fees if memory serves correct. Impact fees pay for public safety, parks, libraries, roads and 2 other items based on what my Fulton Homes rep told me.
