Alert | We all know how BADLY the home salespeople LIE to prospective buyers. I just wish they would get a fine for doing that. It's one thing to lie to me, but some people just don't know any better. My father-in-law came into town with his real estate agent, both from the west side of Phoenix. They came into town to look for a house during the fatal accident a few Saturdays ago. They filled my father-in-law's head full of lies and now he doesn't want to move here. The worst thing is that they told him the only way to get out if there is an accident on the 347 is through reservation land dirt roads. NICE.
I spent hours yesterday trying to convince him there were several other ways out of town and that driving through the reservation would get him fined. Anyway, now he is looking in Sunlakes.

Alert | | I'd have to say you may be the only person I know that actually wants their in-laws that close. LOL!!! Sounds to me like a frustrated maricopa resident. that's too bad for you though! Maybe suggest he come up through Casa Grande??

Alert | | Sorry, let me clarify. I meant sounds to me like the sales person is a frustrated resident. Not you.

Alert | | I understood what you meant. I am worried about my father-in-law, I think he needs some help and so I wish he would move close by. My parents, well, that's another story. I like them in Flagstaff.

Alert | | If he is very leary about Maricopa - what about Casa Grande? Ironwood Village is an age restricted townhouse/condo enclave. VERY NICE! I'd like to move in. That way he's only 30 minutes away at most but still independent. And CG has more to offer seniors as far as services than Maricopa at this time.

Alert | That's true. I thought maybe I would just give in to Sunlakes, I-10 and Riggs. It's closer to his other son and I rarely go into Casa Grande. My son would not be aloud to drive the 347 to visit him though.
But it still made me mad they would LIE like to an older man. Geez, I know they told me Smith Enke was going to be a freeway to the I-10 and whole bunch of other lies, but every sales person he spoke to gave him a different lie. I just was mad that they told him and his realtor to go through the reservation. He could have gotten a ticket!

Alert | | Why don't you see if you can convince him to take a second look with a local realtor who is familiar with Maricopa and the surrounding areas?

Alert | Think about it Lees. How many residents of Maricopa were told by the sales agents that the feed lots and dairies were leaving... there is no smell/dust/flies... the trains are very few each day... services and shopping were only a few months away... no traffic problems commuting to Phx... values are going up by the hour... no investors allowed in our subdivision, only homeowners... The list goes on.
It's a wonder they don't have their licenses suspended.

Alert | Rescuemom - I tried that. He has known this person for years. He is comfortable with her. He said he might come out and look again. I told him not to listen to the salespeople and to ask ME or his son to come with him next time.
Fritzy, I knew they were lying to me. I did a lot of research before I came out here, plus I have a friend who works for a builder and she told me about things before I came out there. AND this forum was helpful. I don't want him to be bored just because I am being selfish. He might like it better in a place with seniors. He wanted to move into Provice, but it needs to be built out more before he can get the type of mortgage he wants.
Anyway, I was venting. Thanks so much.

Alert | It's not THAT bad to live her... plus he coulde have bought a house for cheap too.. less then we did 2 years ago.
I think if he really wants to live here... you two should take him around.

Alert | Which salesperson was it? I would march in to the office and demand that they call your FIL and apologize, otherwise you'll complain to their employer.
I know how you feel. I know how stubborn the older generation is and how we worry about them. | | `cos everybody hates a tourist Especially one who thinks it's all such a laugh. Yeah and the chip stain and grease will come out in the bath...

Alert | | I hope his realtor appreciates his loyalty to her. It is the realtors job to shield the client from the sales peoples babble and to adhere to the disclosure laws. If she had done her homework on the area before accompanying your father-in-law here she would have been more well versed on the pros and cons. Sorry, I get a little riled about realtors sometimes.

Alert | Boymaker, I wanted to, he couldn't remember. He said it was somewhere where those washes were (I assume he meant somewhere in RED).
Rescuemom, I know. Maybe I should have a talk with her!

Alert | | I would call the realtors board and file a complaint. It is illigal for an agent to "steer" a client. | | Senior Member 406 posts Joined May 2005

Alert | | I think Im confused. So the sales person here in Maricopa that is supposed to be selling houses here in Maricopa is trying to talk people out of out buying a house? | | Liberalism and capitalism address themselves to the cool, well-balanced mind. They proceed by strict logic, eliminating any appeal to the emotions. Socialism, on the contrary, works on the emotions, tries to violate logical considerations by rousing a sense of personal interest and to stifle the voice of reason by awakening primitive instincts. -- Ludwig Von Mises
