My name is Sherri Roeder I am the Vice President of the HOA and acting President since the resignation of Roger. Trust me when I tell you that we are working as fast as we can to remove the graffiti and clean up this community. Today the pictures are being taken of the property and will be forward to the MPD to assist in this major issue. My biggest concern is the safety of our community. I will get back on the forum and give updates as I receive them from the MPD. We are in the works of catching the people who are trying to ruin this community and frankly that is all I can say on this portion of this issue. Now the clean up of
the park is going to be discussed at tonights HOA meeting at Santa Rosa School at 630pm. As it might seem that we are not moving quick enough on this issue I promise you that all of the board members and myself are trying very hard to fix this quickly, however we are working with other entities and there have been conflicts with scheduling.
That will be resolved today, and then we can move forward with the clean up. I would like to thank everyone that is looking out and trying to help. The more assistance we have the better we can be as a community. Please come to the meeting with any questions or concerns other than this one and we will be happy to answer them and look into anything that we can assist with.
Thank you
Sherri Roeder

There are not enough lights in the neighborhoods....this just adds to people being able to commit crimes.  I agree that parents need to be more aware of what their kids are doing.  It is so disappointing that all these kids have nothing better to do than destroy and damage property.

Does anyone know if the police suspect this graffiti on the garage door, common walls, and park area to have been done by kids or by a gang?

The majority of the grafitti is tagging.  More of a status type thing by people who want to be associated as being in a "gang".   As far as actual organised gangs involved in criminal enterprizes this is minimal.

The sad part is the vandalism to the rock was in broad daylight.

Next time you see a kid doing vandalism beat the crap out of them. That is a good deterrant.

Hubby and I took a walk yesterday afternoon, and we saw a couple cleaning up and painting the garage door to the house on Balboa.  And then when we reached Edison/Rio, we saw that the Acacia Crossings sign had been tagged.  Nice.  And some of the bricks on the wall at Edison/Roosevelt were knocked out quite a while ago, and are still sitting on the ground.

Also I was walking my dog Sunday night and noticed that at the ramada in the park along Alamendras, there was graffiti on the sidewalks. If I catch the little bastards doing it, we wont have a problem anymore. Someones kid is gonna be spray painted and then we'll all know who the culprit is.

Ooh, I like that!  I'm going to start carrying a little bottle of spray paint so I can tag the kid that is tagging.

Well, that house on Balboa, the wall facing the green belt is still tagged. Anyone looked into this?

The VP of the HOA stated on this website on March 10 that it would be taken care of.  Why is it still there?  Grafitti and tagging should be removed immediately, since what the grafitti artists and taggers want is exposure, and the longer it is there, the more exposure they get.   Take a picture of it, but then get rid of the grafitti and tagging ASAP.

Report it to the police.  They have zero tolerance and will use cover up paint immediately to remove it.

I started this topic of discussion the beginning of March and I reported that taggiing on the wall to both the HOA and the MPD back then.  I also attended the HOA meeting that was held in March and this topic was discussed; the HOA had pictures of all the tags (including the one on the wall).  So they have been aware of it for over a month and a half.  The garage door was re-painted, most (not all) of the tagging in the park was cleaned up....but this one big tag on the wall facing the greenbelt is still there.  It took about 3 and a half weeks to get the garage door and park cleaned up from when it was first reported.  I tried to follow up with the HOA on the grafitti situation; no one got back to me.

This has been a hot subject.  I feel we need to have a policy with AAM where grafitti is removed by paint or sand blasting within 48 hours.  The current process while well intentioned is not meeting the level of service we need to provide the Community.  If we aggresively attack grafitti it should help curtail it and cause it to move to other areas.
