I came from downtown Phoenix and the city provides recycling bins to residents for free. It really bothers me when I drive down my street and see only 4 recycling bins out on trash day. I know that the community would be more apt to recycle if the bins were provided. Any thoughts on how we can go about this?

I think you can get a recycling bin, but it costs extra.........

Right. They are $15 per quarter, we have one. Not that expensive so why doesn't everyone have one? Unless we get the City of Maricopa to provide them for us. It's very "Green!"

Welllll, the City of Maricopa has a bit more on its plate than providing us with one more service at our expense right now. I figure they'll come around to it at some point, along with a hike in our property tax. For now I think it's probably better that it be the choice of the individual homeowner. :-)

My understanding was the recyling bin was provided by the company at no additional charge. The $15 upfront fee is for one quarter of service. You can't beat $5 a month.

You have to contact Maricopa Disposal for a recycling bin. It's $15/quarter. I don't think WM provides reycling in Acacia but that may have changed...

Don't forget that you can also visit your local Recycling Association of Maricopa facility on Saturdays for items that you cannot recycle in your residential curbside recycling bin. For example, glass bottles, electronics, appliances, scrap metal, car batteries, tires, and usable furniture & clothing. Call 520-568-9428 for any recycling questions or for more info.
