Alert | Did anyone else see this letter in the newspaper about our HOA? I am just looking for a few thoughts and opinions on the thing. Might be worth a look, since we are paying so much and seeing very little done.

Alert | | I have always wondered why our HOA fee's are among the highest in Maricopa. Someone once said that it is because we are a smaller community, so we have less homes in our development to spread the fee's around. I think some communities have the trash included into their fee's, but we dont even have that. We still have to pay the $30 every 3 months on top of the almost $200 for the HOA.

Alert | Which paper? I would like to read it.
And yes the reason we pay so much is because we have 73o-some-odd homes compaired to 3000+ homes. However, I'm always keen on ways to reduce spending if it still honors the spirit of our community.

Alert | Hello! Just wanted to add I saw it as well. It was in The New Edition Newspaper. (its the newest of the maricopa papers). I'm curious if we could get people to go along with this and try and get our fees lowered. The paper said something about a management company that we can vote out and that is one of the reasons it is a larger fee. Then the HOA would have to do the work themselves and lower our price.
I have a friend that just moved into maricopa maybe 8 months ago. Her HOA includes use of 2 pools and I belive 1 park. Her fees are also about $30 less then ours!! I think we need some kind of change!!

Alert | | I do too. I don't think it's fair that we have less then anyone and get charged the most. It's not OUR fault there are less homes. This is OUR community and there must be a way to change it.

Alert | I do understand some of your concerns, however has anyone been to a board meeting and brought it up. I am on the board and I can say for sure that no one has brought this to my attention. I would love hear if you all would have a better idea for us. Please feel free to let us know we are all open and willing to listen. Thanks and have a great day.

Alert | | It does suck that we have almost nothing, and pay high HOA fee's... but come on people... we knew what the fee's were before we bought our homes... if you didnt like it then, maybe you should have looked in a diff community?

You assume we knew I guess. But no not all of us did. We were not given the HOA info until after we had already applied for a loan, and signed for the home. So it was already in the works. When we found out we freaked but it was already too far along in the process. We were also told that there were to be changes in the works that never happened.

Alert | It is 'our fault' that we have less homes, we moved here!!! Hello?! Seriously, I don't know when you moved in, but if you drove around the neighborhood where did you think they were going to put, what a club house? A pool?
The board, that we homeowners elected, can fire the management company and then they hire another. The next management company is going to do what this one does or maybe they wont' do things and our bills won't get paid and notices won't go out. Or do I understand that you want to self-manage? Are you an expert in all the legalities of HOAs? Are you going to handle the finances? Do the drive throughs? Contact and have a business relationship with ALL of our vendors? Why is anyone going to listen to you? Where are we going to house our offices? Build one in one of the parks?
Sorry if I come off sarcastic but I meant to. I have been through this before and there is way more to this then anyone has thought of. Go to a meeting and find out how things are done, and then if you don't like it then run for the board and try to effect change the proper way.
