I am anti-religion, but pro-faith.  I don't understand how people can support the huge corporate mega churches.  I am here to try and understand what I do not.

Why the dislike for big churches?

The hypocrisy of religions with billions of dollars in assets who build multi-million dollar churches and are entirely tax-exempt?   If those religions were truly pious, they would hold their meetings in cinder block buildings and use their resources to help people around the world.

Don't get me started on the countless evangelists who use church funds for drugs, hookers, spring break trips for their kids on the church jet, shopping trips, mega mansions and whatever else they like, as their parishioners struggle to send $5 more.

Just because a church has thousands of parishoners and a nice building doesn't mean it's bad or sinful. Sure there are those who wrongly use the funds of the church but that happens in the small churches also. What it comes down to is finding a church that is right for you. Some people like a small, modest building with a short list of close-knit believers to worship with and others like a big church with lots of activities to join in with their families and friends. Either way, get to know that Pastor if you want to, talk to him about his faith and your faith. Ask about his family. Ask him his lifes story. Feel comfortable in where you will be worshiping and praying and learning and growing whether it is big or small, beautiful buildings and comfortable seating or cinderblock walls and wooden pews. As for the people who are scraping to put and extra $5 in the plate every week and don't realize their money is not going where they think it is remember Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" so we need to have faith that God sees what is happening even if we don't and he is using it for good somewhere even if we can't even imagine it.

I pray for world peace and stop genocide all over the world.............  I must be praying wrong........

And there are a bunch of people in the middle east,  with the same honest and good intentions that you have, praying for the death of all christians and jews.

Don't stop praying.  Trust in Him.

I personally do not understand how people can go to church in a former basketball arena.  To me it would feel more like a convention than church.
