Are the missionaries going to be there blocking the door out asking and answering questions?
We'll keep them at bay, delby! This is simply a presentation for LDS and interested non-LDS people alike, and we certainly don't want any visitors to feel like they've been given a "bait and switch," or that this was somehow a ploy to get them to come so the missionaries can harangue them. That wouldn't be very effective, would it? The stake presidency and I will be answering the questions at the end, which people can submit anonymously. No missionaries!
Is knocking on doors becoming a thing of the past that you have to make it known that a presentation for non-lds peoples is coming up? As one of many means of finding people who are interested or searching, knocking on doors is not going away anytime soon! I'm confused as to why you would think that this presentation is a "plan B" to replace the missionaries' attempts to talk to people. I think it would be really neat if non-Mormons outnumber Mormons at this presentation, but I don't expect that to happen. This presentation is something I suggested to the stake presidency and showed them and they approved, and I thought there might be some non-Mormons who might be interested in what is presented or said. That's why I suggested an anonymous Q&A by index card, so people who would like to ask questions wouldn't feel self-conscious. Why is it always the Mormons who try to convince everybody that their church is the right one? This used to be known as the "Divine Commission" from Jesus to His Church: "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you . . ." (Matthew 28:19-20) "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." (Mark 16:15-16) I wouldn't belong to a church who didn't claim to be the true one. I get the feeling that the "Divine Commission" isn't emphasized anymore, outside of a few faiths. |
