Alert | This is the most important question anyone alive today needs to ask themselves. Accepting the Gospel of the Lord and living our lives according to the Gospel is not an easy task but if we turn our back on the Lord, then we are turning our back on salvation.
Jesus tells us in the Bible to follow him but how can we truly follow Jesus if we are being misguided by those who profess religions other then the one Jesus started when he was on this earth.
Yes, Jesus did set in motion his church when he walked amongst us, but today many people profess to be Christians yet do not belong to his church. In today's culture we have many churches that profess to be followers of Christ but are they truly members of the one church that Jesus started when his father sent him to save our souls?

Alert | | I don't think Jesus cares what "religion" you call or consider yourself. He does want you to accept Him as your savior.

Alert | Christian of course. Unlike some religions who ask you for 10% of your earnings, JC never asked for monetary compensation. Ask and you shall receive. He turned the water into wine, fed hundreds of people with fish & bread.
I don't recall him asking his followers for 10%.

Alert | | Actually, the 10% part is in the Bible numerous times. Jesus mentions it also. | | "My favorite health club is the International House of Pancakes" -- Lewis Black

Alert | 10% is mentioned in: Leviticus 27:30, Numbers 18:26, Deuteronomy 14:24 and 2 Chronicles 31:5. While there is no precise mention of 10% in the New Testament, there is this:
1 Corinthians 16:1-2
With regard to the collection for the saints, please follow the directions that I gave to the churches of Galatia: On the first day of the week, each of you should set aside some income and save it to the extent that God has blessed you, so that a collection will not have to be made when I come. | | Joined: Jul 2005

Alert | In your previous post you stated that Jesus said to give 10%. Thre is nothing there that states 10%.
For example, the story of the widow's gift to the Temple of her last two coins, a passage appearing in the same context in Mark 12:41-44 and Luke 21:1-4.
The point of Jesus' commendation is that it is not the amount which one gives that matters but the spirit in which the gift is given.
I give what I can, sometimes 10% off my weekly gross sometimes less. It's ashame when certain religions deny membership or entrace into certain ceremonies.

Alert | Also, the word tithe, in itself means the first tenth of something. So when tithe was referred to, it meant to give to God first, a tenth of what you earned.
justincredible02 is correct in that Jesus cares about the spirit in which it is given, not the amount.

Alert | | Jesus doesn't want us to be any RELIGION. He just wants us to have a relationship with HIM, which means you believe in Him, believe and admit that you are a sinner, acknowledge that HE is the only one who can cover your sins by the blood He shed on the cross and accepting his gift of salvation which is the only true way to get to heaven. Then, by praying and ready his Word, The Bible, grow closer to Him. It's all about the relationship with Him and not any of the "religious rituals" that many believe to be the important part.

What religions deny membership or entrance if you don't give enough money?!

Alert | | Bunny, that was a comment made concerning the LDS church. We believe in a 10% tithe. Membership is NOT denied if you do not pay. However, if you do not pay your tithing you CAN be denied access into the temple - which requires a recommend for entrance.
