I can only handle one myself. I really don't know how all those guys in the bible did it. Can you imagine having 5 different women say you never listen to me.

Go back to page 1 of the posts and read "moinmoin"'s reply and you will get a very good idea of why some people are not very fond of the Mormon religion. Good grief, you can't just quit the church! It's a process that could take half your life to complete before they will turn you loose or leave you alone.

There was a time when I was completely gone from the lds church and I never had the bad experience. I just sit down and talked to the local bishop and I was taken off the roles of the church and was never bothered again until I wanted to be. I think just like anything else you just need to sit down and tell the local leader because nobody has any intention of harming anyone. Most honestly feel they are trying to help. I think that is true regardless of the faith.

We are all born sinners, we are all sinners, thus, people don't get along. Seems it started with Adam and Eve, Cain killing Able.

"Take half your life to complete" --- it's a letter! One letter, and not even a long one. Yet, some apostates and non-Mormons act as if it's like providing documentation for an IRS audit.

I have assisted people before in writing the letter and seeing that they are processed, but these people are, in my experience, a super-minority. For these people whom I have personal experience with or knowledge of, the process was painless and seamless. The vast majority of people who insist that they don't want any contact with the Church, however, refuse to do what they need to do to ensure that this happens (i.e., formally remove their names via a letter). I don't know if they deep-down want to hedge their bets or what ("Well, just in case Mormonism's true, I don't want to take myself off of the records, but I don't want to keep the commandments either. Just go away and leave me alone.").

I'm confident that many/most of those on this forum who represent themselves to be former Mormons are technically still on the membership rolls of the Church. I would be very interested to see how many of these people actually have had their names removed (or were excommunicated).

I also find non-Mormons' bewilderment at a church keeping track of membership and attendance records interesting. It's no secret that the LDS Church expects and requires dedication and service from its members; in fact, it's quite well-known for this. Easter and Christmas Mormons are not what we're shooting for. What does it say about churches that require no commitment and make no effort to seek out and minister to their flock?

true moin, very true. Your the only on here that says that but your right. Most members of the church from my experience have pretty good hearts.

If someone tries to bring you cookies or a piece of paper with a spiritual thought on it because they felt it was a nice thing to do and wondered if you needed anything, and you didn't want them to contact you, GET OVER IT!
