10/19/2007 10:43 PM Alert
The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him.
Everyday he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions.
One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt the worst had happened, and everything was lost. He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger He cried out, "God! How could you do this to me?"
Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island! It had come to rescue him! "How did you know I was here?," asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they re plied.
The Moral of This Story: It's easy to get discouraged when things are going bad, but we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives.... even in the midst of our pain and suffering. Remember that the next time your little hut seems to be burning to the ground. It just may be a smoke signal that summons the Grace of God.

P. S. You may want to consider passing this on, because you never know who feels as if their hut is on fire today.

While this may have very little to do with anything, and though it is certainly not aimed at anyone in particular, I am inspired to say, "it takes a village to raise an idiot".

And it takes a "religion" to get everyone to 'drink the kool-aid'.

I can't agree with this, I'm 100% positive that there have been idiots that weren't raised by a village.

Atheism is a religion too. Hitler made and distributed lots of kool-aid. Stalin, Pol Pot, etc. ... they're all the same and they killed way more people since the dawn of time than all of the other religions combined.

Go back to your village.

Hitler was a Christian.

Uh ... what planet are you from?
Take me to your leader!

If you believe that Hitler was a Christian, then you probably believe that the Holocaust didn't happen, or maybe that the Earth is flat, etc.

It is a well documented fact, that has also been addressed in other forums here, that Hitler WAS NOT a Christian and that he simply claimed to be one for the sake of his evil plans.

You can't really believe some of the things that you say Copa ... I think that you just spew out things to see what happens.

Parrasplaces,
LAY OFF THE CAPSLOCK KEY!

Don't forget it's the Trogdor that burninates the latched roofed cottages! (close enough to a hut)

Oh, and atheist can't say that they are compelled by atheism to kill people... compelled by "God"? now that's more common.

Just because you don't think Hitler was a particularly good Christian, doesn't change the fact the he claimed to be Christian.

Copa, I do not deny the claim that Hitler made; the thing that is objectively true is that Hitler most certainly was not a Christian. If I say, "I am Copa", does that make me a good or bad Copite? No. I am not Copa or a Copite at all!

With regard to what atheists kill in the name of, it is irrelevant who kills who in the name of or not in the name of. It was evil for all of those people to kill all of those other people. The point is that atheists have killed way more people in the history of man than theists. In both cases, it is sad, to say the least.

Was Hitler evil?

Evil is relative.

Relative to what?

If evil exists, then so does good.
If both good and evil exist, then so does a standard by which to judge them.

What is the basis by which you judge good and evil?

Not true. Atheists can and have done this, in the name of wiping out other religions.

Copa, that is not entirely true. Most history has been written from multiple perspectives ... winners, losers and the spectators. There are also objective facts and artifacts that corroborate various versions of history.

To say, "history is written by the victors" sure sounds good, but under close examination it is found to be somewhat sophomoric.

With regard to standards, OK then ... what are they relative to? You keep playing a shell game here.
