How do you/your family celebrate the Winter Solstice? Or do you celebrate it? Have any Christmas/Hanukkah traditions carried over?

By drinking witches brew in the light of the moon, after I rub my face in goats blood and sing in front of the mirror.

I'd rather live one day as a lion, than my whole life as a lamb.

Now that sounds like a good time! Well, except for the singing... I don't have much of a singing voice. Is the Witches brew alcoholic?

Any more "serious" responses?

That can be discussed too.

Oh no it can't. Your neighbors are fed up with the naked dancing.

You'd like to think so.

I'm sorry, but my level of liberalness on this is directly proportional to your gender and degree of attractiveness.

I am neither Pagan nor Wiccan, but I am not Christian or Jewish either! We are New Thought.

I was raised in the Christian (Evangelical, Born Again variety) Church and we do have "Christmas" in my home. We believe in Santa Clause until my children are ridiculusly too old to beleieve anymore. We put up a tree (and that is soo not a Christian symbol) and post a disclaimer beside the Nativity Scene: "This does not mean that we actually believe Christ was born on Dec. 25th, that is ludacris. We believe in the spirit that is behind Christmas, which is peace for all and good will towards men."

We also do a little thing for Chanukah and Kwanza. The reasoning behind all of these is pretty much the same in today's commercialized "Holiday" marketing campaigns; spend your money and feel good about it. So, we spend our money and feel good about it! Besides, we wouldn't want oud kids to feel stupid not having all the latest and greatest toys and gadgets that all their friends flaunt after the "Holiday" break!

I'm just saying...

“A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds.”

How do you/your family celebrate the Winter Solstice? Or do you celebrate it? Have any Christmas/Hanukkah traditions carried over?

i believe it would be the pagan traditions that carried over into chrisiuanity and judiasm, seeing as how paganism predates them, well, christianity for sure, how old is the jewish religion?
