Alert | Okay, we are Lutheran and usually attend Esperanza in Ahwatukee but... the 347 is just getting to be too much of a pain and frankly a bit scary...so..... my question is... are there any really good churches out here? I don't think there is a Lutheran one yet but any really good Christian churches?
I am looking for something casual and more "up to date" I guess you could call it.
Thanks! | | Ppppppbbbbbbssssssssssttttttttt!

They also have a really great kids program called Kids for Hope. We meet at Pima Butte Elem Sunday mornings at 9:30 and 10:45. PM me if you have any questions or you can check out their website at cohmaricopa.com | | --Cheryl--

Alert | ACTS Christian Center is also a great church. It currently meets at Maricopa High School cafeteria - services start at 10:30am. This is a very fun loving group of people that enjoy worshiping Christ and Activating Christ Throughout Society (ACTS). The Pastors are a great down to earth couple who are really dedicated to serving the Lord.
Praise The Lord, wherever the Spirit Leads you, I pray you find a good home church locally.

Alert | I think only the Catholic, the So Baptist, Assembly Of God and the mormon churches have actual church buildings (I think there might be one other by the catholic church???) Otherwise Welcome to the New Community-where churches need to raise the money to raise the walls!BUT can certainly raise the roof!! COC is rockin and casual with a great message. You can listen to the pod cast and then check them out. I think you are gonna have to just make the rounds and check them out and find what is comfortable for you and your family.

Alert | | The band at Community of Hope is pretty good. Also, their children's progam is nice. Only downside I have seen with COH, is there is not much participation, which was kind of a bummer for me. Rusty does a great job giving a good message, but sometimes we don't get the Holy Ghost vibe. I haven't tried any other churches locally. So, I have to ask, how are the other churches here in Copa? I am looking also at trying another church because I also refuse to drive on Sundays on the 347 if I don't have to. And supporting a local church is always good. | | "Being defeated is often a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent." -Marilyn vos Savant

Alert | We have lived here for almost a year. When we first moved here, I was 8 mths pregnant. We attended several churches and finally resorted to the "Baptist" church (my husband and I are neither Baptist.) Pastor Jim and the rest of the congregation welcomed us with open arms. They took me to dr. appointments and er trips all while arranging childcare for my older children. They even gave me a baby shower even though we were brand new to the church. Pastor Jim preaches pure Bible-teaching messages without any fluff. He himself admits that he's not perfect (which is a big thing for Pastors to do) and has the biggest heart to help others succeed in their daily walk.
Well, what I just wanted to say is please don't let the "Baptist" on the sign scare you. The First Baptist Church of Maricopa is a group of Bible-believing ordinary people, just like you and me, who love the Lord and love others. There is nothing fancy about the church, but the worship and people are genuine.
The church is located south of the rr tracks on the left side. If you come to visit, do not be intimidated by the bearded fellow and warm handshake you will recieve. I was at first but now I've come to appreciate the big welcome.
I must add, even though we attend FBC, we do support other local church events and activities. We are all "the church" of God and need to represent and "shine" together.

Alert | Ok You turn on Hathaway(The Post office street) and go straight until you come to a stop sign. The road kind of curves a little bit and then goes straight and then you will come to another stop sign. At the 2nd stop sign turn left and we are the last building on the right. It is a really nice church.....I really hope to see you soon. Oh we have Sunday School that starts @9:30 and our Worship service begins @10:30.

Alert | Oasis Life Church is not operated out of a school. I think most other Christian, Bible believing churchs are (very few have a permanent building a this point).
Speaking of churches. We need to pray for the influences out here in Maricopa and the, we as Christians, can be influential to those around us.

Alert | We attend Community of Hope Church! They do a lot of community service, by getting out and helping the community where ever they can.
They recently started F.O.R. Maricopa, which is going to be a food bank and resource center for Maricopa. They have joined with many of the other churches to serve those who need food, clothing, etc. through this new project.
Community of Hope has a great band, awesome messages during the service, awesome opportunities to get involved!
They are the church who do free movies in the park, Easter Egg Hunts at Pacano Park, Kid's Zones, etc.
They are currently starting a cool small group study. Small groups are a great way to get to know people. The small group study is only 5 weeks and starts in mid October.
Obviously, I love Community of Hope!
Good luck and have fun visiting churches!

God can do great things with each one of us wherever we are... so just let's be sure that we praise God or tried to praise God with the things we do.
