I am surprised this has not been brought up here as a "hot topic."  What are some thoughts on this? I read something by him yesterday in which he said that [basically] we aren't to take the bible literally.  That what the bible was talking about was having non monygamous trists with anyone and anybody (in referring to homosexualty) and that those law don't apply to people are in secure, monogamous homosexual relationships.  He compared it to other "outdated biblical" laws such as not to eat certain kinds of foods.  I wish I could find that article, I thought I saw it on Yahoo news or MSN news.

"Robinson feels that people who use the Bible to condemn homosexuals fail to understand Scripture. It is called an abomination for a man to lie with another man as with a woman, but, he writes, the Bible also says it is an abomination to eat pork or shellfish, to wear clothing made of two different fibers, or to sow two different types of seed in the same field. "A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength." Prov. 24:5. Granted, this was from the Old Testament and not the New Testament. If you accept  (as most would) that wisdom, knowledge and understanding are synonyms for intelligence, then the Bible is replete with examples of it being praised. Russell was,if not an atheist, at least an agnostic. As such he was pushing an agenda regarding religion. So his statements should not be taken as gospel (pun intended).

The New Testament rescinds the Old Testament law on pork, etc., with a vision to one of the apostles. I don't recall which one. But it never took back the one about marriage being between a man and a woman. I see no evidence, anywhere, that it was ever condoned to marry in any other manner (with the exception of allowing multiple wives, which seems to be a law given and taken at God's discretion considering sometimes it was ok, and sometimes it was not).

Wow!  I wish I could understand what you are saying, but I am having a tough time making heads or tails of your post, but am going to address you this way.  and please keep in mind since I do not know where you stand, I am going to tell you where I stand:  Here is Granny, 55 years old, holds down a job, travels the 347 5 days a week, has 2 beautiful children which have found beautiful people to share their life with, and have given me and gramps 5 beautiful grandchildren,  And I have to say, if at anytime in their upbringing they had come to me and said they were in LOVE and it happened to be of their same sex, I would have been ok with that!   When I chose to have children, my job was to see that they grew up to love.  Love thy neighbor; love thy fellow man.  Love God.  And the most important- Love someone you will share your life with.

I don't go to church, but I do have my faith.  I do not want to get into a long time "argument" in this thread.  I just want to say I am glad I can share my feelings.

PEACE & LOVE!!!!!

GRANNY5X
