Alert | I'm finally down to one foster cat, and it just so happens that he's the one I most want to see settled into the "purfect" home for the holidays.
Marius is a GORGEOUS black Domestic Long Hair (DLH), with a square lion's head, full mane and striking yellow eyes. (Pictures to follow -- promise!) He was abandoned as a half-grown kitten in a Chandler neighborhood, where a coworker of mine took to feeding him on her patio at night. He came around every evening at dinnertime, at first just for the food, but eventually for the attention lavished upon him by her two children. By all accounts, he absolutely adored her kids and would let them pick him up and carry him around and brush his fur long before he would come to any of the adults in the family.
My coworker moved to Casa Grande a while back, but was worried that no one would feed Marius after she left and ended up taking him with her, albeit as an outdoor cat because her husband refused to let him come in the house. Unfortunately, Marius was confused by the move and disappeared, only to turn up again in an empty lot a few weeks later: matted, half-starved and with a raging ear infection. At that point, my coworker recognized that he needed more TLC than her husband would allow her to give and asked me to take him in.
Two surgeries -- the ear infection led to an aural hemotoma that had to be surgically drained -- and several months later, Marius is a completely different cat. He is now neutered, current on his shots and has a clean bill of health from Maricopa Animal Hospital. His fur has grown back and he looks for all the world like a miniature black lion. He is sweet and affectionate and talkative and craves attention. He is definitely a "people-cat," but gets along well with other cats and is pretty much indifferent to dogs. He is litterbox trained and very gentle with his claws.
If you think you might be interested in meeting Marius, please email me at michelle.leu@gmail.com or call 480-215-5385. He is an awesome cat and I would keep him myself if I weren't at my limit, and if my little girl-cat was willing to share her space with him. She hasn't come out of the linen closet since I brought him home, and it's been months and months. : | | I used to be Chelle.
