Alert | | OK so a few days ago one of our Yorkies decided she would steal potatoes out of the pantry, bring them to her sisters to share and create a mess and we would take them, this was a new found discovery of hers. Now mind you the next problem has been going on for a while but all of a sudden we have a new twist. One of them ( we have our suspicion after DH did a thorough investigation of their paws)has now decided to EAT our Walls! by the front door, literally scratch, chew through layers of paint to the dry wall! prior to this their little favorite was our based board molding. These dogs are not denied and have more than ample food and chewies, I have sprayed the area with the stay off stuff. Any suggestions, as to why a 4lb dog feels they can eat a house?

Alert | Yorkies are not dogs. Yorkies are rodents with some canine characteristics | | Stupid should hurt!

Alert | | What are you feeding them? Perhaps they need a higher quality dog food - feeding them plenty of food that just goes in one end and out the other doesn't give them the same nutritional value of really high quality dog foods. There are several brands of super high quality dog foods (if you get your food at a grocery store or PetSmart or PetCo, you aren't getting nearly the highest quality foods). Tempe Feed & Tack and Goober Pet Direct sell several very high quality dog foods. I feed all my critters Wellness. Everything that Tempe Feed & Tack sells is very high quality, so that may be a good place to start.

Alert | My Rottweiler and German Shepherd chewed through our wall and tore out the insulation. They also chewed through our "fire door" to the garage among many other things. I have tried just about everything with them and they still chew everything. They even destroyed the "guaranteed" Kong in less than 1 hour. I am home all day long and the dogs are never unattended except at night when we sleep. We used to crate them but they can't "guard" our house in a crate. Besides they chewed holes in the sides of the crates. I joke that it won't stop until I pull their teeth since they are past the puppy chew stage. I have come to conclusion that I will just get all new furniture and a new house when the dogs become old and toothless; until then if anyone can think of any other suggestions I am open to them...

Alert | | BIG beef leg bones? Give it to them raw. Cleans their teeth and entertains them too.

Alert | KNJ - HAHAHAHAHA! I've only heard of 1 other dog destroying a kong! Hilarious!
Bored dogs chew & bark. I'm assuming it's one of the younger yorkie's & she's probably still teething too. Confine all (or maybe just the newest - Kennedy probably doesn't need confining) to the xpen you used when you had them as pups when you're not around to supervise. They'll be just fine together in the xpen.

Alert | | Yes Kim we need to do something, between finding potatoes in my bed, and my walls being eaten we are ready to turn on a surveillance system. I feel the ring leade r in this is Brooklyn, however Paul's detective work (Doggie CSI) show the suspects paws as Emma's. Which we think was a plant as she isn't the type to do this. However Brooklyn is turning into a little mischief maker. Abby appears to be our baseboard chewer. Lord know they can't be bored I'm here with them and they are spoiled rotten, I've tried numerous high quality foods and that doesn't work with them as they boycott and hold out until pedigree in a pouch is shown. I know that i fyou wait long enough they wil eat, On another not the back yard looks great, Dallas ate the 2nd palm tree so now at least they are even!
