Alert | Today we went to the dog park. Our 1 year old beagle LOVES the dog park but he seems to get car sick. I thought it was something he would out grow but a year later and he still gets sick.
So here is what I propose…
My husband and I live on a little over 3 acres of dirt out here in Maricopa. Our “back yard” is completely fenced and I figure it is just about an acre and a half. I know there are lots of dog owners out there that would love to get together for a dog play date. I guess you could even think of it as a quasi dog park.
So who is interested? We are thinking of gaining some interested and starting this in the next few weekends when the weather will be great for this sort of thing.
All dogs should have up to date shots (no, we wont be checking) to protect not only our dog but your dog as well.
So who is interested? If we have a good group this could turn in to a weekly thing!
Let me know if you have any questions.

Alert | | I would love to do this. We moved here from Gilbert about a month ago and didn't know where to take our 5 month old puppy so today we took him to the Cosmo Dog Park in Gilbert...it's very nice and was packed...I think it overwhelmed my boy though so something on a smaller scale would be great!!!

Alert | I'm in!
Also, for car sickness, try an enclosed plastic crate w/ a towel or blanket over it.

Alert | AWSOME!
Would you be willing to do a Greyhounds Only hour? Greyhounds have very thin skin and ar easilt injured so when greys have a fun run we like to wear muzzles so they can't hurt each other.
I have 4 greys at my house and my friend Lauren has 3 and my friend Kelly has 2, so that makes 8 greys.. It would be an hour of poetry in motion | | Tens of THOUSANDS of pure-bred dogs are killed in shelters in the Us EVERY YEAR!
Do your part ~Spay or Neuter your pets ~DON'T buy animals from irresponsible breeders.. ~There is an adoption group for every breed of dog..

Feliway wouldn't since it's for kitties, but there is a doggie version. It's more for calming fears, so if the car sickness is fear or stress based it might. If it's just plain motion sickness, I'd doubt it.

Alert | JillyBean I think we could arrange something... Like maybe start with Greyhounds only at 7am and then everyone else interested at 8? We are thinking October 18th for the first play date? The weather should be nice in the morning by then.
By The Way thanks for the info on car sickness... We decided today that the crate would be the ONLY way Zeus will be traveling in the family car.

Alert | Yep I meant the 14th woops TYPO!
That will give it a few days for the temperature to drop a bit and for us to get a liability waver drawn up.
I should mention that we are not looking for a HUGE group but a nice pack that enjoy each others company...
More info to come in the next few weeks ...

Alert | Oh dang it, I'm working the 13th, so that's out for me. But the 20th or 27th sounds like fun - count me and Cujo in! Just let me know which day it will be, so I can plan to take off work and go play!
Btw...thank you, Tigg, for the play date! Cujo (despite his shy demeanor - he's had a rough two weeks, lol) gives Kuma "two thumbs up and a triple *woof*!" She's the greatest! | | <---Look, Ma! I sit, I stay, I match the carpet!

Alert | | this sure sonds like something my furbabies would love. i think daddy wouldn't mind watching the hairless baby on some saturday mornings for me. not sure if i'll be ready to leave nick, even for an hour or so, by the middle of october, but i'm sure the time will come when i'm cool with it pretty quickly. besides, father/son bonding time has got to be a good thing. having a new baby and a 5 month old puppy, i'm sure i'll be looking for ways to tire the puppy out on a regular basis. not to mention my older dog would probably love the relief, they play constantly and she is starting to give me the look!
