ok, i promised her i would make a public apology, so here it is. yesterday i blamed my 5 year old dog for injuring maximus II, the 4 month old puppy we just adopted from pkat. not a super horrible injury, but bad enough that i felt locked in the house until i came up with an appropriate way to seperate them. well...pkat came over for dinner last night, and while sitting in my living room, he discovered that the darned puppy had actually caused the injury himself, cow puppy had nothing to do with it after all!

the puppy kinda crawls under our glass topped coffee table and then stand up, bouncing his head off the underside in the exact same spot every time. this has opened up a big ole cut on top of his head. he must have dome it REALLY HARD the first time to injure himself originally. pkat watched him do it twice more last night. and now he gives the coffee table a wide berth. he also licks the blood off the bottom of the table after hitting it, so until pkat caught him in the act, there was no evidence.

so...cow puppy, my darling, my most wonderful dog in the world, i am SO sorry for blaming you for hurting the puppy. you are a wonderful teacher and surrogate mommy to him, and i just couldn't understand why you would be so bad when i was gone. i should have had more faith in you. thank you for being the wonderful girl you are. i am SO glad i didn't punish you, and i do apologise for the cold shoulder you were getting yesterday afternoon. there!

Good apology

Poor Cow Puppy - guilty until proven innocent. At least she was proven innocent and not punished. Cow Puppy should also get an extra special treat for the cold shoulder.

Ok, I have to ask, what is a cow puppy? Is that just the name or does your puppy really look like a cow? Cute name though. Oh and dont feel bad, I do the same thing to my kids! One gets blamed for the other one getting a big knot on their head only to find out that the brilliant child has been hitting them self in the head!

cow puppy is a 5 year old, 3/4 pit, 1/4 lab. she is white with big black spots. i was there at her birth, there were 9 puppies in all, and as each one came out, we (the humans) would discuss their coloring. well, when my girl came out, i said, "my god, that one looks just like a little cow!" at the time i had no intention of taking one of the pups, but apparently she had other ideas and cow puppy she has been ever since.

interestingly, maximus II looks VERY much like cow puppy, only his spots are tan instead of black. also, he appears to be 100% pit, and has big floppy ears, whereas my cow has these really cool ears that stick out and kinda look like the flying nun's head dress!

Another question.... is your dog reading this? How will Cow Puppy ACTUALLY know that you made a public apology? You could have just TOLD cow puppy you did this. Like the commercial - I don't know it's not bacon - I CAN'T READ!"

Smiling and winking BUT THEY ARE NOT WORKING AGAIN!!

Mine watch TV...favorite program...anything animal planet.

I swear they surf the net while I'm at work during the day, so I'm sure they read my postings, too...very good at figuring out passwords. I'm sure that yours reads your mail as well.

Uh oh...now they'll know that I'm on to them!

i think they just wanted to be on the other side of the door. they are so cute together now. cow puppy has now completely accepted the puppy as part of the household and seems to be entering her own second puppyhood. she was tolerant of him from the beginning, but now the PLAY and i mean hard. they chased each other around the house for close to an hour last night, wrestling and barking and talking. it was so cute. what was even cuter was the way they passed out when they were finally finished!

Curious does Maximus II have a new name yet? Just wondering because I have Maximus the first. We just call him Max. This was not going to be name I wanted but it kinda "stuck" Although for a while there we called him Minimus. But he has grown. He's so awkward still all paws and legs. But oh so pretty. Blonde with blue eyes.

And he STILL can't read this post! If he hits his head on glass, he definately can't read this post yet! So he STILL doesn't know you are apologizing to him... Not off the hook yet...

Sorry, just had to throw that back in for you!

no, no, nicks, i was apologising to the other dog. she may very well be able to read this. she is scary smart sometimes.

max is gonna stay max. it fits him, and he answers to it well. besides, paul has a dream of an entire town populated with rescued dogs named max, who am i to kill another's dreams? i hear max I and max II actually look quite a bit alike. II is also all paws and elbows at this point. he has the worst case of the puppy clumsies i have ever seen!
