Alert | I just thought I'd add some really good news to the Pets forum. It seems we've been reading more and more about abandoned dogs, and cats, or how they have been mistreated or lost.
As I have posted in the past, Patton our greyhound has been plagued with corns on one of his toes. We tried everything - homeopathic methods to remove them, human methods to remove them, surgery to remove them, and nothing worked. He had a terrible limp, had to wear padded shoes on walks, and eventually stopped using the leg entirely, and completely resigned to hopping. For 2 years we fought these nasty little buggers.
Finally, after many conversations with our very greyhound-savvy vet, and several people who are very knowledgeable @ greyhounds, we decided as a last resort to remove the toe. Patton's toe was amuptated about 6 weeks ago.
6 weeks later, and I must say, I apologize to my dear boy we didn't do this sooner! This was the best money we ever spend on his medical care (although his new name is Dyson- the money for his surgery was supposed to go to a super Animal Dyson. Hee hee.)
Patton is now completely pain free. He still wears padded shoes on walks, but that is to protect his back paws. However, before on walks, after walking down the street, he would start to hop, limp, and drag the bad foot. He'd slow down, and not move as fast. Now, he's a totally different dog! We have our old Patton back! He's excited to walk- head up- looking around, pulling on his lead, and looking at me, as to say- move faster! There is no more limping or hopping, and he does not drag that foot anymore!
We're building his walking stamina back up, and I am happy to have my happy walking boy back!

Alert | Yeah Patton-Dyson!!
We call out little Lu (rescue Pekingese) "Daddy's little boat" because the $$$ spent on vet bills to dx her epilepsy was supposed to go toward a boat when we lived in Minneapolis! | | | |
