Alert | I need a little advice.
We are being woken up at 5am every morning by the loud meowing of a cat. This cat is all gray, very skinny with a blue collar. I have called AC&C with no luck on catching it. I have attempted several times to get close enough to see the collar but the cat is very skittish. So yesterday I left food out and the cat showed up. He let me get close enough to see that he's a boy, very skinny, blue collar has no ID, and he reeks of urine. However, he wouldn't let me pick him up. I'm pretty sure I can trap him with my kitty carrier as he does not seem feral.
Here's the problem: I can't have him as my male cat will tear this cat to pieces. Should I call a trap, neuter and release program or trap the cat myself and take him to AC&C?
Anyone else hear this cat in Sunrise at Cobblestone Farms?

Alert | His smell could be fear - the 'smell of fear' sort of smells like really strong urine, not quite the same, but it's similar - and it stinks something horrible (of course it could also be urine). There's a chance the kitty is microchipped - I'd say catch him and have him scanned for a microchip if you can. If he is chipped, that's the quickest way to help him find his way home.
I know if my cat Flopsy was lost, she'd stink up a storm - and it'd be litterally the smell of fear. She gets that smell any time she doesn't have her Feliway to calm her down.

Alert | | And yes, I am well aware that it is a very sad thing that I know what 'fear' smells like on a cat!

Alert | One of my cats is very fearful - so much so that you can actually smell the fear on her - the scent that usually only other animals can smell because it's usually very subtle, but she gets so scared of the world that it is anything but subtle! The stink is horrid - it's no wonder animals react negatively to those who are afraid. All I can say is thank goodness for Feliway! It keeps her a bit more relaxed - enough that it gets rid of the stink at least!
It is one of the most horrible smells I've ever smelled.

Alert | Can it be worse than the way it smelled outside about a week ago? I almost tossed my cookies as I have a very weak stomach. Normally, I can cope with the smell in Copa, not that time!!!
Thanks for the education and I hope I never have to experience what you just described =)

I didn't smell anything all that bad last week, so I'd have to say yes.

Alert | | omg! yenni2 i was there today helping sherri and saw it. i asked if it was supposed to be there. when i stepped outside it took off and was very loud meowing so i sent sherri to check it out. lol!!! i am not really a cat person. the reason i sent her to check because there was a lady the other day walking cobblestone looking for a grey cat with a collar on. she sd it had white in its tail (i think) could it possibly be the cat she is looking for? if so there are signs on the mailboxes at least ours by the soccer fields and playground.

Alert | | socrlvr....Not the same cat unfortunately. The cat hanging around my house is all grey, no stripes and it is a boy. Wasn't that the loudest meow you ever heard? That cat wakes me up out of a dead sleep! I am going to try and trap it on Monday on my day off. I am going to visit all my neighbors to ask if they know the owners before I try to trap it. Wish me luck.

Alert | Hey yenni2,
I have a couple of the Havahart humane cat traps. If you don't catch the kitty, let me know. The traps work great.

Alert | Thanks for the offer gegenheimer!!
I am currently luring the cat to my house with food and if I can't catch him I will take you up on the offer. The lack of sleep is making myself and my husband really crabby!
