That's all I have heard all day. Bark, bark, bark, BARK.
My neighbor's dogs bark ALL DAY and into the night. I feel bad for the little guys, they are out there ALL the time in the back yard with rocks and dirt - no soft beds or grass to lay on, in the heat, with a bowl of water, and only the covered porch as shelter.

What happens if they knock their water over?

Anyway, I can hear them in my house, with the AC running, and they are making me NUTS.
I've tried going over there, but the few times I've gone over there, no one answers.
Do I get the HOA involved? What can they do? I understand dogs bark - I have 2 of my own who occasionally decide they need to bark in the backyard. But, its not CONSTANT!

I'm more saddened - I know they are barking out of boredom and loneliness, but they are making me crazy. I'm sick of the noise, and once we can open our windows this fall, I do not want to be constantly serenaded by their little, yappy dogs!

That's a tough situation to have with the neighbors, I'd definately talk to them first, but the bottom line is enjoying your own house. If you can't get anywhere with them, try Animal Control, there are ordinances that apply to both the noise and health of the dogs.

Animal Control doesn't handle barking complaints in Maricopa any longer.

That sucks...

Where are you and what kind of dogs? Just wondering cause the renter in our other home had 2 dogs that they had to get rid of because they were tearing apart the backyard (litteraly) and they actually rented a house small house without the yard done so the dogs can stay there. I know they aren't allowed indoors..... I hope it's not them!

Try leaving the neighbor a note. I did this once, and threatened them with calling Animal Control (when they handle this sort of thing) and provided them with options. I taped the notes to the front door and garage, with DEAR NEIGHBOR, written on it.

it worked, and the issue was resolved

Sad.. very sad.. in this heat too.

Just doing it one day at a time. Change is good and it should be looked upon as an improvment! not a problem.

i would also try talking to them first and letting them know how awful it is to leave an animal outside like that! i don't understand people. why have a dog if you are just going to leave it outside all day? i guess i have the mentality that our dog is part of the family. but even so, to have an animal out in this heat is complete abuse! maybe someone should chain your neighbor to their porch all day with little water and see how he likes it! or better yet, just post his address on this website and we can all randomly ring his doorbell and tell him what a jerk he is and to bring his dog inside or give it up to a LOVING home where someone will give the animal the respect it deserves! (sorry, i get a wee bit passionate about animals!)

we finally voted in a smart president!

Is there a law against it? Is it legally considered animal abuse? Youwould think with as high of heat as it gets out here it would be..... how would someone go about that?

As I type my neighbor's dog has been barking for hours and hours. He's been left outside for days because his owner's are away. I always feel sick listening to their stress.

As long as a dog in our county has access to shade & water 24/7 and is fed regularly, it is not against the log to keep the dog outside.

I do have a handfull of customers who keep their dogs outside. For some of those dogs, it's very bothersome to me and I have no problem expressing my displeasure to the owners. For others, they have made shaded dog runs, keep cieling fans or swamp coolers running on their patio at all times and some even have mister systems set up on timers. The dogs seem happy & healthy in those cases, so I'm far less bothered by them. Still don't understand having a dog you keep outside, but it's not my place to pass judgment unless the dog is in danger from the heat.

I can't stand being out in this heat for even an hour let alone all day! Poor things. My renter keeps hers outside. She grew up in a cooler state and that's how their dogs were too. I guess it's to prevent them from tearing up the house.

We have a dog who loves to be outside at night. During the day, he's usually stretched out in front of the couch with all fours straight up in the air. Our other two go in and out pretty much as they please, but sleep inside at night. It depends a lot on the dog, how they're trained, and the owner. I have never felt that it's cruel to keep a dog outside.

Now, if someone leaves their dog out all day in the sun with out shade, food, or water, then that's a different story. And for people who leave thier dog alone to do nothing but bark, I don't understand why they want a dog to start with. Most dogs want to be with their owners, or at least know where they are and that eventually they're going to get some attention.

It may be that the owners are unaware of the barking, so I would give them the benefit of the doubt and talk to them first.

Stupid should hurt!

We must have the same neighbor, only there not little dogs and theres about 5 of them...But they do start barking at 4am till midnight and the neighbor stays at home with the kids. It gets annoying...I understand feeling the need to rescue a dog but I dont see them getting any more attention or love that they would receive in a human society.

Bye Bye Maricopa!
