Itapee, the video was so cute and funny. I loved it. Your pig is adorable. You seem to be such a great mommy.

You guys are so sweet! I thought I was the only "Crazy pig lady" LOL

Jgk, there are three things to look for on a pot belly. Small ears, sway back and a straight tale. It is possible to breed pb's to farm pigs. The straight tail is the best thing to look for as it seems to be a dominate trait in farm pigs. I got Heaven at that livestock auction in Chandler. There were 5 there. Heaven was the smallest (3 1/2 pounds at 3 months) She was being trampled by the farm pigs she was in there with and could walk through the fence.
Then, when they auctioned her off, they held her up by the back leg and I was afraid they were going to dislocate her hip! Sooo needless to say, she came home with me. This auction gets pb's in alot, (scary huh) Sometimes they don't sell and they give them away! No gaurentee on the size, but you can kinda tell by looking at them if they are true pb's. Some people do over feed pb's, and yes they can be 200, but from what I have seen that is not the norm with proper feeding. Chitwoods will special order Mazuri pb food (the best as far as I am concerned.) Just tell hubby that a pb is very handy. They alert you when someone comes in, and can eat the brown banannas and the scraps from veggies, so nothing goes to waste!

OK, done jabbering, I just haven't had anyone to talk to about pigs. I am so happy!

I will post when I make the update of Heaven.

That is so sad! They held her up by her little leg?? Were they selling her to be butchered?? I couldn't ever go to an auction, I would either bid on everyone or I would just cry there.Thank god you rescued her!!! I wouldnt even know where to start looking for a pb!

I don't know. But she was terribly emaciated and it took me two weeks of force feeding her goats milk, to finally get her to eat. A pig that doesn't eat is a pig who has given up.

I do know the other people who bought the pb's were getting them for a petting zoo. But they knew nothing about them! You have to do a liittle research before you get one. There is a very large pig sanctuary in Marana I think.

I want a pig! I have pugs; they are chubby and grunt and snort all day. They will have to do for now.

Yeah, pretty much, lol. I just have to fatten them up a little; they were both the runts of their litter.
