If you know anyone that has had a litter please let me know   I know there are TONS of dogs desperate for homes that are older but due to a past expierence we are only looking to adopt a young pup that we can take to obedience school etc. thank you!

i'm sure if you search "rottweiler dog rescue/az" you will find great rescue sites that will adopt these dogs/pups to you. i also understand how you feel about getting a pup so that you can train them to your family and your needs.
can i just say this though. ....my family loves labs. for the first time, about 5 years ago, we bought a purebred lab pup instead of going to the shelter, like we usually do. we loved this dog dearly (btw, this statement of love is a massive understatement!!) unfortunately, he bit my daughter in the face a few years later (we still don't know why.) it was pretty bad, and very, very scary! we still can't think/talk about it w/o getting emotional about our daughter and our dog (which, after several months of trying to place into homes, had to be put down.) anyway, i first refused getting any dogs in my home, period. then, my hubby wore me down a few years later and i said, "only a pup!" i strongly believed by bringing in a puppy, i could train this new dog to do what i say, etc., and i'd finally be the one in control!!
but we went to a lab rescue group (arizona labardor and large breed...) and found a 4 yr old yellow boy that we fell in love with in about two minutes. i was a nervous wreck to have my babies around him the first week until i realized this dog was the dog of my dreams. he saved me 100% more than we saved him. my 16 month old uses him as a step stool, my 4 year old uses him as a pillow and i get tears just thinking how this dog has transformed me back to the trusting person i was before the bite to my daughter.
i was so afraid to even let my girls near a kitten after the dog bite to my oldest daughter's face. but, these rescue groups are here for that! whether you want a lab, a rott, a dalmation, a poodle...just find a resuce group...i am positive there is one in arizona for nearly every breed. you will pay an application fee and a fee for the dog. most of the fees are to help the group keep going, and so they can save many more lives of dogs/cats. but they take great care in matching your family with dogs that will only be a great fit with you. i look at my rescue and i just kiss him all the time! my 4 year old dog is a far cry from what i originally thought i would go for. but with the honesty and help from the lab rescue, we really did find the perfect fit to our family.
i'm not saying not to adopt a pup. i'm just saying, don't let fear stop you from finding a really great, gentle, older dog. and this is coming from someone who has been terrified, borderline schizo about having dogs around her children!

this time i want a smart president!
