 Alert | We just noticed this growing on our dogs foot. Its on the outer side of his hine paw. He licks this thing all the time now! Im hoping someone will know what this is and not just tell me to go to the vet. (which i understand I probably will)

Alert | Not ot scare you but my pup had a similar growth and it was cancer. Your pups might just be a infection or sumptin but... Im going to go against what you said and say go to the vet. If it is in fact cancerous you need to get it removed asap. | |

Alert | A dog we had years ago had that on her shoulder, started out small then grew to the size of a small orange. It was a non-cancerous tumor on our dog. For about $100 we had it removed, of course that was 15 years ago and the tumor was on the shoulder.

Alert | There was no behavior changes with the dog. Since it was on her shoulder she couldn't lick it. But we found ourselves petting her less, because we didn't want to touch it. Once the tumor was removed, life went back to normal. KC, our dog, never seemed to notice any difference one way or the other.
When is your pups next well dog check up, you could ask then. You might also want to try to get your dog to quit licking it, so it and the area around it doesn't become infected.

Alert | You know we actually lived in Maricopa (hot sun) for about 8 months and our 8 yr old dalmation had something just like it...it started out very small (I almost thought it was a bug bite) and as she continued to lick it, it grew huge it became very hard and was full of puss and gross! I took her to Petsmart vet in Tempe and she thought it was nothing to worry about. When we moved back to CA I had my regular vet who has seen her forever take a look at it...sure enough cancer! It was actually on her tummy and because she is a very light skin dog (affected most) the doctor was became very suspicious of it. The lumps also became very painful as they grew. Needless to say she had 2 huge tumors removed since it started to grow on the other side too...and $2300 later she is cancer free. Her last check up was about 6 months from the surgery. So it is an ongoing process...have it checked to be safe. Good luck! | | | |

Alert | My yellow lab, Harley, has something very similar to that on his right side of his chest. We have a vet appointment tomorrow. Hopefully we both have nothing to worry about, but you can bet I'm gonna have a biopsy taken just to make sure. Let me know how your puppy is doing! | | | |

Alert | | Well... unfortunately it is cancer. He has a mast cell tumor. He goes in on Tuesday to have it removed. Hopefully it hasn't spread anywhere else!!!! It should take care of the cancer. If not we are prepared to do anything we can. He is almost 3 and has so much to live for. Let me know who else has had this same issue. Thank you! | | | |

Alert | | So far so good! The emergancy vet did a wonderful job for Harley. She had to go back in and cut out infected tissue on two of the three incision sites. The large tumor site was severly infected and had to be completely redone. He had to go back under for surgery, which is always scary, for the second time in a week! My complaints for our normal vet are these: one- they didn't give him antibiotics in the beginning because it was a "sterile surgery". Call me crazy but I thought all surgeries, including human, are sterile!!!!!!!!!!! Second-when we took him in because it was oozing, they said it was normal. The e-vet said it was not normal at all. So, needless to say, we are NOT very happy with our vet. The good news is is that Harley is cancer free! What a complete drain mentally, for us, and physically for are wonderful dog. First Regional Animal Emergancy Hospital did a wonderful job!!!!! Thank you so much!!!!!!!!! | | | |
