My son is 8 months old. He started this crying thing at 4 months. We went to the doctor, tried everything you all have talked about and found out he has acid reflux. you wouldnt know it becuz he doesnt vomit or do alot of spit up... maybe you might ask the doctor about that.. its my 2nd child and my daughter didnt have it.. its always something to look into.. until you go to the doctor try elevating one end of the bed so the baby isnt laying flat and also prevacid is what thy give em for reflux just a fyi.. good luck

This thread brings back memories... my niece when she was about that age cried and screamed for what seemed like 3 months straight! She had acid reflux AND was lactose intolerant (runs on our side of the family). It was horrible. My sister in law had to cut out all dairy (she was breast feeding) and the doctor finally put my niece on prevacid which seemed to help. Hope you don't have to go thru all that.

I didn't think you were suppose to give juice to a baby that young and very little water. Try the swaddling that help with my daughter. Also I breast fed, and at about 4-5 months she was gassy and would get diaper rashes and it was due to a lactose intoerance. I cut dairy out of my diet and wah lah... all better! Boy was it hard for me though! It actually went away at about 14 months and I could eat/drink it again. If you are breast feeding try to change your diet a little. My mom said that when I was young if she ate green grapes I would get horrible gas and be really cranky.
I know onions, cabbage, broccoli are gassy foods too. We used Little Tummy's and Mylacon drops too

Babies can start cutting teeth as young as 4 months...

Oh yeah DING DONG, even if she does take her to the doctor chances are they will tell her the same thing. Unless she is having trouble w/ bowel/bladder movements, blood in stool or urine or any other tell tale signs of trouble they can't really do too much. It is mostly a guessing game with crying infants since they can't tell you what's wrong or what symptoms they have.

Ppppppbbbbbbssssssssssttttttttt!

My daughter started crying fits like that at a few months old. I know this is going to sound strange, but after trying EVERYTHING, you find you'll try ANYTHING!

I read that since babies like the skin on skin contact to take your shirt off and just hold the little one. I did that and it calmed her immediately.

I also took her into a dark room and sometimes holding her on her belly across my knees worked.

Could be teething too! My first one cut a tooth at exactly 5 months.

If it is colic, ask your dr. (because I read this somewhere too) if you can give them an ounce of pedialite and it is supposed to settle their tummies.

I have a brand new bottle still in box of gripe water you can have if you would like it. My twin had gas very bad and I spoke to their Dr and I switched to Enfamil Nutramigen and it made a world of difference!! It was expensive but worth every dollar as they did much better. I also would lay them on their bellies and bicycle their legs to help relieve the gas. It seems like it would build up over the day and be bad later in the early evening hours. PM me if you would like the gripe water.
