This is for Mothers or Fathers.

I don't know if it's just me, but does it bother you when people constantly say how much your child looks like your wife/husband and NOT you?
I keep hearing it more and more, and it sort of bums me out. Our daughter is 16 months old and looks alot like her Mom. But, to those that know my family, they say she looks a "bit" like me.
Well, I was just curious to hear if anyone else has gone or is going through the same trivial problem. After all, I did a lot of work to make that baby...

I had to laugh at your last comment. I know my sister in law hates it when people say that her daughter looks like the dad. So much so that she flat told us all to stop saying it.
Just remember that her looks will change a lot as she grows and maybe she'll have a stage where people will really notice some of your features that she has.

Both of my kids look just like thier dad. (except the eyes) and it used to really bug me, but as they get older, well there is just no denying it. The older one IS just like him, personality, neurosis, looks, everything. Oh well, I am sure I will have a part in corrupting them or making them crazy, or something, just like both of my parents.

My kids look exactly like their dad and it doesn't bother me a bit; I married the most handsome man around and I'm glad they look like him. The OCD they got from me but hey, nobody's perfect. LOL!

My older son looks just like my husband and nothing like me. It has bothered me on occasion, especially when a cashier at Fry's asked if I was babysitting him, lol. It hasn't bothered me since my younger son was born because he looks just like me and nothing like my husband. I think both of my boys are gorgeous so it doesn't matter who they look like.

I wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure your baby is beautiful and a wonderful mix of both of you.
I have a friend who adopted a little boy. Complete strangers will say to her "he looks just like you". She just smiles and says "thank you very much".

People Tell Us That Our Oldest Son Is A Mixture Of Both Of Us, Middle Son Looks Like His Dad And Youngest Son They Say Doesn't Look Like Any Of Us. Nice. But Strangers Feel The Need To Remind Us That We Have Three Son's, Everywhere We Go Like We Are A Novelty. Lol

we have 2 girls, and we are expecting a 3rd baby (don't know which "flavor" yet). What upsets me is when people assume we are having #3 to try for a boy. Or say things like "well, i sure hope you don't have another girl" or "that's alot of prom dresses and weddings to pay for".

Bottom line: people say stupid things and make things their business when it's not.

Both my girls look like my husband and really nothing like me. It doesn't bother me at all. When people tell me that they look so much like my husband, i just laugh and tell people that I must have been sleeping when I conceived them.

I can understand this completly. Everyone says both of my children look like my husband..which is not there dad. We get it all the time, I dont want to be rude so I let the person think they know what they are talking about. The last time this happened they said my daughter looked like my husband, my daughter looked at me in confusment and I just had to giggle

actually, the most horrible thing i have heard along these lines is from the father of 2 girls...he actually said it about his own kids. he and my fiance were talking, and he told joey they were going to stop at 2, because the first two were girls, he didn't want to take a chance on being a 3 time loser. i was absolutely stunned when joey told me about this conversation!

It bugs me too.... some people think she looks like her dad since she has lighter brown hair and blue eyes.. (I have black hair and hazel eyes) but she looks almost exactly like me when I was younger!

everyone tells me both of my girls look like my husband. it doesn't really bother me b/c he's a beauty! but i get irritated when people ask me if we are trying for three so i can give him a son. it's usually old men that say this to me. i kindly remind the old men that it's the males who determine the sex of the child. they usually shut up after that. people make it seem like i've failed my husband b/c he didn't "get" a boy. my husband is quite happy with his girls. we are going to teach them to hike, camp and fish just the same!
the other really annoying thing is when my baby is dressed head to toe in pink and people will still say, "oh, what a cute little boy. what's his name?" i had completely given up correcting people years ago when my first daughter was born and i just say, "his name is jack." other people standing around will look at my daughter, then look at me, and just bust out laughing b/c they have figured it out.

this time i want a smart president!

ME TOO!! Everyone says my lil one looks exactly like me-dark hair dark eyes and she is adopted! And I have to admit SHE DOES look like me!! I just smile and say "Thank you" (Our birth mom picked us because of ME looking like members of her family-she wanted the baby to look like the adoptive family). Those who knew me when I was younger say my oldest looks like me too. I think she looks like her biofathers side. I see alot of him in her!! (and thats a good thing)

Um, so yeah, everyone who see's my little girls says she looks just like me. I kind of get tired of hearing it but I usually just make a joke about it and call her my "mini-me" and do the Dr. Evil pinky to the mouth thing. It has just become a part of us being seen in public.

What would we call kids that look just like us, if that term "mini me" never came about?
