I am posting in this section since  there are mostly woman chatting.  I am wondering what all of you have done with your wedding dresses.  I am a mom of 2 boys & only have a nephew...no girls in the family.  Since I do not have anyone to pass my dress to I would like to sell it but that is easier said than done.  Resale stores only want the sleeveless style.   I'd be thrilled just to get $50-$100 for it!   If I save it for my "daughter-in-laws to be"  the dress will most likely be out of style.  I would love to hear of any suggestions you may have!

I saved mine. I think one day my children will want to look at it. I know I liked to look at my mom's growing up.

Put an ad on craigslist for it or put it up on ebay if you want to sell it.

I had mine dble boxed after washing and preserving! I tried to sell mine too. You can't get even a 1/4 of what you paid for it. I had Christina Aguilera sing at my wedding and have tons of pics of me in that wedding gown with Christina by my side. She was only 11 yrs. at the time she sang in my wedding. I wonder if I could get any money if I sold it on ebay cuz I danced with Christina at my wedding in that gown??!!!!!

Live every day as if it were your last and smile!

I was married 9 years ago and still have my custom made gown.  I'm a big history buff, and during the entire wedding planning and celebration, I was sure to save things that I would want to share with my children and grandchildren.  I saved things like our wedding planning book, bridal magazines, etc., because I knew that someday it would be fun (and funny) to check out the styles from 1999 (the turn of the century!).

Also, I'm planning on using the fabric from my detachable train to make my children's baptismal gowns (whenever I have children).

My mom has her custom made gown, and even though my sister and I could never wear it because she was a size 0/2 (and short), we loved looking at it.

Even though you don't have daughters, maybe your future daughters-in-law may want to use some of the lace on their own gowns, or to wrap the stems of their bouquet.  It would be a nice way to incorporate something "old" into their wedding.

I would save the dress. Your daughter in laws could use the dress by making alterations to it to make it up to date, or your grandchildren could have dresses made out of it. I think your daughter in laws would be happy to know that you thought of them long before you knew who they'd be.

If you really want to sell it, then probably Craigslist or ebay is the way to go, but I'm sure you shouldn't expect much.
