Hi guys. I'm sure this question has been asked a million times before, but this is my first time to this site. I was wondering if there are any active playgroups (or what ever they may be called) here in Maricopa. I am a sahm with a 10 month old. I am looking for a group with other children around her age. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am not part of a group but I am always game for a playdate. My daughter is 13mo and loves playing with others. Let me know if you want to make a date.

There are many groups in Maricopa. Some are not structured playgroups, and there are 4 MOMS Club chapters in Maricopa depending on whcih community you live in. If you would like more info please send me a Personal Message.

Which MOMS Club is only meeting 1x/wk? I have had experience with every club in Maricopa (long story) and all of the MOMS (moms offering moms support) chapters have occasions to meet more than once a week, even the newest chapter. There are planned activities, playgroups, and clubs so that if you wanted to you could be out of the house 3+ days in some sort of activity.

I personally am out of the house nearly every day. DD is in preschool so DS and and I go to the store, go to activities, DD has dance, playgroups, tumbling, and then I have 2 different friends from different chapters that I schedule playdates with outside of chapter activities.

Not everyone attends every event, but there certainly are opportunities throughout the week to get out if that is what you are looking for in a club. In our chapters out here (all of them) you get out what you put in. I personally have a lot invested in this group, it is something I cherish in my life and I hope to give others the support I have received, I don't put perameters on it because if something I need is not available I say..."anyone else need this?" and usually at least 1 other person feels the same way.

I know this is long and I know others have had different experiences with chapters out here and that is fine. I rarely post anything this heartfelt because someone will feel the need to trash it, I just wanted accurate information out there as to what these chapters CAN offer. If it is not a MOMS club (international chapter) that suits your needs I hope you find somehting that does, I just wanted you to know what it really is before you count it out.

Thanks

yeah, the actual Playgroups only meet once a week but generally the Moms club has many activities throughout the week. Plus alot of us get the kids together for sperate play dates.
You can always try a group activity such as dance or tumbling (at DSPA) there is a MyGym in Ahwatukee that is alot of fun too. Parks & Rec offeres some programs for kids too

He goes to the little gym on ray road once a week. I am not sure what chapter I tried in moms club I have not signed up yet I am still debating it. I did not feel like I fit in there. I just want more things for my little one to do. We are always shopping to get out of the house (poor kid) and I know that he would rather be playing

Well, you can always hit up the bookstores for story times. The AZ Museum for Youth in Mesa is wonderful. I don't think you are going to find a group that meets daily though. You will have to involve yourself in numerous things.
I am oneof those moms that has to be on the go and have her in everything too. She is booked every day except Fridays. Theat is our day to be lazy and just enjoy eachother doing whatever.

Hey bp727 did you ever find out if the VRED had a moms club? I know you had asked that in a different forum. I live in the villages and would love to find out more info on the club as well. So let me know. Thanks<img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/tongue.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Tongue' align='absmiddle'>

Hey Jerome, this has been work in progress <img src='http://www.85239.com/desktopmodules/ntforums/images/emoticons/smile.gif' height='20' width='20' border='0' title='Smile' align='absmiddle'>
I actually just contacted Andrea who is the VIP of the MOMs Club Of Maricopa chapter of Santa Rosa (the villages). I guess there is a moms group that is made up of parents here in the Villages. This is all new to me and a little confusing. But if you are interested in finding out more, her e-mail address is andreamorin5@hotmail.com
She replied to my email with-in 24 hours. And I'm still getting more information before I sign up for anything. I wish they would hold an "open house" like the other group is doing. Just so we can see what they are all about before we pay for anything or get into something that doesnt work for us. Oh well, we'll see. Let me know if you find out any new information and I'll do the same. Have a good day. Becky

They do hold open houses. We just did one not too long ago (pIMA) they just don't do them monthly. you can always attend the new one. You won't meet the same people but it can give you a jist of how things work.
You can also do a pop in visit to whatever playgroup your child will be in to check out the Moms and see how your child does and then go from there. That's what I did. You don't have to comit to anything right then and there... you can observe for a little bit =)
I love it! It's a great organization.
