My son is almost 11 months old and he is getting hard to put in his backward fasing seat. Am I supposed to wait until 1 year or just when he hits 20 pounds. I feel so bad for him ridding backwards he gets no air and it is so hot out!! Thanks

And I think it is GREAT that you are asking questions. I have one child and when she was born I was CLUELESS. I had taken care of children, but you have NO IDEA until it is your own!!

Yeah, it's both 1 year AND 20lbs. I feel your pain. My youngest daughter is super tall, but really slender. It took a while before we could turn her.

Once he is in a car seat that allows him to sit up (if he isn't already) check out www.babybeecool.com. I saw a demonstration on the news not too long ago. It is a car seat cooler that last up to 10 hours and you can store bottles of water in them too. I am getting one for my daughter when she outgrows her infant carrier.

From the website:Car Seat Cooler Pad

Made of an insulated fabric, sold along with reuseable ice blocks that are placed within lined pockets of the padding. This cooling protection lasts up to 10 hours in the extreme heat!

The BabyBeeCool Car Seat Cooler Pad* was designed in the heat of the Arizona desert. Interior car temperatures can reach in excess of 185 degrees Fahrenheit! Using the BabyBeeCool Car Seat Cooler Pad, your car seat could be up to 100 degrees cooler!

No more of those hot seats your child refuses to sit in
No more burning metal buckles, snaps, fasteners, and safety hazards
The universal design easily fits all baby car seats
Also functions as a handy cooler for bottles or other foods
Designed with shoulder straps to make it easy to also carry your baby

Also, what kind of seat is he in? Is it an infant seat still or a convertible? A convertible, while still facing backward will allow him to sit up more comfortably. With a few toys on the seat behind him he should be ok for ahile still.
