Alert | Hi,
I was wondering if any other parents out there have experienced this with their child. My son just turned 1 and has 8 teeth, which he likes to grind. OMG the sound is like nails on a chalk board to me. I have tried to massage his cheeks when he does it and tell him "NO GRINDING" in a stern voice, but he just does it again 2 secs later. Any ideas on how to get him to stop?
thanks Kaire | | | |

Alert | Yes, and it's totally normal. It won't hurt him. It bothers you mor ethan him. There are lots of articles on it. You can visit www.parenting.com and find one I'm sure. My daughter did it and it would drive me crazy! I would stick the tip of my finger in there and say "don't do that". After awhile she stopped. You just have to wait it out. If for some reason you do notice she is damaging her teeth even thoughit is unlikely it does happen or if you are really worried talkt oyour pediatrician on your next visit. | | Ppppppbbbbbbssssssssssttttttttt!

Alert | | My friends little girl did this excessively to the point where she grinded them to the gums & they became very painful. She had to get crowns on her baby teeth. I would mention it to your pediatrician my son also grinded his for a while. Good luck

Alert | | This happens and try not to bring attention to it. He will quit on his own. Give him a teething ring or damp washcloth to bite on. | | Live every day as if it were your last and smile!

Alert | | I feel your pain! My son did the same thing when he was that age and OMG!!!!!!! I wanted to scream. I would stick my finger in his mouth. I never told him why I was randomly sticking my finger in his mouth but at least it distacted him and allowed me a moment of peace. Probably not what SuperNanny would recommend but...let me repeat....OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hope it stops very soon!

Alert | | Does he does it when he sleeps? ... My son does!!! and yes I agree OMG! ok we ask the dentist and he told us that it happens because of too much drinks with sugar... so we start giving my 4 year old, everything mix with water... and is getting better... the dentist said that it will go away on its own, but giving him drinks with less sugar will help a lot and so far seems that is working...
